I think near everyone has seen the news report recently about Donner saying she wants First Class to be a franchise... It never occured to me at the time but ive just realised something...

Many fans were upset over what they got from The Last Stand, but it left us with a huge problem, they gave us the penultimate ending story, of which i mean The Phoenix... the worst be all and end all story they could of used to continue on from... because nothing can really top the drama that was Phoenix...

But then came X-Men Origins: Wolverine and well its a spin off, Hugh Jackman took control of this movie along with a new director and script, this movie is something that will need to stand alone. The thing with this movie is that it can either be a one of or they can chose to go it alone and do a trilogy with... But its not x-men... its Wolverine.

In the past news on any other sequel, they bigged up more Magneto movie which seem to not get fans that very excited, The idea of First Class has been surrounded with mystery, and until now downplayed... then Donner said the word Franchise...

You do realise that they see First Class as the equvilant to the prequel trilogy of star wars... Which means maybe X-Men First Class could be a three picture deal... Now with that said, was anyone a fan of X-Men Evolution... or at best watched a few episode or knew about it?

X-Men Evolution was the young lives of Scott, Jean, plus others... Now with X-Men Evolution the fear towards mutants was still present but it wasnt the be all and end off arch through out the series. It gave a chance to see how mutants kept there abilities a secrete whilst living in the real world of humans who wasnt ready to accept them.

Think of it this way, we now have the vehicle to tell a new arch... But at the same time cant have majorly big characters in it, so we wont see anyone like Apocalpyse, Mojo, Sentinals or Shi'ar... for the obvious reason of the fact that you need strong future story lines that may need either more than one movie to explain there presences...

But this... First Class, we now have the ability to introduce characters like, Dr.Nathaniel Essex and his transformation into Sinister, thus giving a reason to bring back the use of Gambit. other characters like the High Evolutionary could be introduced to explain how Magneto got the idea and technology to transform humans into mutants. And with Wundergor we could finally see an onscreen Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch... We could even venture into the relationship between Mystique and Sabretooth, how sabretooth joined the brotherhood, maybe we could also explain a young Graydon Creed... We still havent understood how old Mystique is, although she appears young and being that when she was cured she looked in her early 30's but maybe mystique had a teenage pregancy and sabretooth is the father? Further more to this we also have Shadow King and Storm background we could introduce... First class is going to give us the origin of the core characters and with that we're going to have a powerful new trilogy.

The way they are working this thing at the moment, they want the movies to follow on from each other so it all fits together in a wonderful jigsaw but we have to except that were not going to get the rise of the apocalpyse or the legacy virus outbreak... But what we will get is a better understanding of the pre-exisiting characters.

Young cyclops? how did he get the ruby quarts sunglasses? - Sinister?
Young Jean? & Young Emma Frost - indications of the presence of - Hellfire?
Young Beast? - what transformed him from human in x2 to blue and fury in x3? - A better exploration of his time as a scientist, maybe more info on Moria McTaggart?
Young Storm - could her appearance in troubled past caused her to come to the xavier instatue? - Shadow King
Magneto - what happend to his children, how did he get the idea for the human mutant machine? High Evolutionary, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch
Xavier - Professor, Husband and Father - Proteus?

This could be a way to expand on things we haven't seen before and tie the movies together at the same time. I want to see first class but im also hoping for x4.

I love Wolverine but it will be good to see an x film that doesnt include him and will focus on other characters

Keep first Class's grubby paws off sinister and gambit. They're too good for a a mutant Dawson's creek.

I think Gambit would be perfect for a mutant Dawson's Creek actually. Especially with Taylor playing him. They need someone the teenage girls can swoon over and I'm guessing Beast and Professor X will be too old and I'm not sure if Scott's actor is swoon-worthy.

It might be the only other chance we have to see Gambit.

I agree with that too. It doesn't look like we're going to have an X4 and it wouldn't make much sense of him to appear in Wolverine II (especially if its going to be about Japan). It would be kind of a waste of what is a very popular character with a very popular casting choice to only have him in Wolverine and that's it.

He's been in that kind of situation in the comic for the last 10 years and it's absolutely killed his popularity. Gibbering fangirls may like it, but everyone else loathes it.

Frankly, they should put him in Wolverine 2 or nothing at all. It's not like he had a good reason to be in the first one to begin with.

I'd rather see him in First class than following wolverine around . Although a cameo at the begining of wolverine 2 would make sense but only if it's them going their separate ways.

At least in Wolverine, Gambit was involved with a situation he could have conceivably been involved in. I don't see how he would fit in Wolverine II, so that would probably leave nothing else if not First Class. Kind of lame to wait 10 years just for a cameo in a Wolverine film but whatever.

Theres any number of concievable ways to work him in. Hell, I'll make one up off the top of my head. he get hired to steal a priceless artifact from the monastery/temple Logan happens to be training in. Logan catches him and they fight before realizing a third party is moving in to take it.

To be honest, I would genuinely prefer Gambit only have a cameo in the first film and be remembered as being completely awesome then have him butchered for the teenieboppers and turned to garbage. At least the first scenario means he'll be more likely to show up in a future reboot.

I think prolonged exposure would make him more likely to show up in a reboot. Then the general audience will be used to seeing him and wonder where he is if they make a reboot. With only this film he would be viewed about as big in the mythos as a guy like Wraith is. They'll think he's a cool cat but only cameo material.

Better than "that whiney, whipped guy in the teen movie". Because, let's face it, thats exactly what he'll become if they do put him in it.

I don't think Gambit would be whiney or whipped. More then likely he'll be the bad boy. I'm hoping for something like he was in X-Men Evolution, which was a teen drama show but it evolved (heh) into something really good and original.

Worst comes to worst he'll be like the bad boy character from the OC or something, which would still probably make him more likable then the other characters.

i'm sorry man i hated the oc. lol I don't mind him in first class. as long as hes in age range of rogue. but right now at the start I don't know.

I'm not saying I do. I just think Gambit would still turn out better then every other character if First Class was that bad.

Now, a set-up like evo i could get behind. He was part of the elite badguys but he obviously didn't care about mutant domination or whatever, he was just there to have fun and steal crap.

nah I like him on the X-men at least in the comic's he had better reasons for stealing. agenda wise. and he 's still a bad ass.

I hope it'll be good. I think First Class is more likely to happen than Magneto.

Well Im very optimist about this movie!! cause it will give us a look at the origins of the xmen first group, hope that they include Emma Frost, Thunderbird and maybe Forge (not as a young mutie), to the main chars!
I think Xmen first class would be sells well! But I think if they want to completed the whole saga, they need to do a Xmen 4, maybe they can bring Singer back and he fix what it was done on the Last Stand.

A x4 movie could includes Emma Frost (a recast mature version), and also Cyclops (Emma find him with her powers), also we can see a more mature Iceman, Rogue (whos powers are back and she is single now), Kitty and Colossus as the new teachers of the Intitute, still run by Storm. Maybe Forge provide them new X-Jet and more new tech.
The treat could be Sinister (the main villain from xmen first class who is back and he goes after some original xmen) and also the sentinels project!

I too think there needs to be more senor characters in the x-men world especially first class, Forge in his 40's would seem a good fit.

Lauren S Donner has said that Magneto movie depends on Wolverine box office... and I'd say First class too.

I'm sure if Wolverine doesn't work well, they won't do more spin-offs, and yes X4.... but almost everybody don't think so...

to all the "x-men" fans, I'd say don't wacth Wolverine in the threatre....

If Wolverine does bad they're definitely not doing X4. It would tell Fox that the franchise is losing it's appeal and they're not going to spend money on a X4 that would cost more to make then a spin off.

Is it confirmed that X-Men: First Class will be a teen story? Just because the comics is, that means nothing. I'm not sure that's a good idea, anyway. Maybe for a TV series, but a movie about high school students? How could they be X-Men so early?

If I had my way, I'd put together an adult team of Beast, Emma, Banshee and Gambit (others I'd call optional - maybe Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch?). The Professor, after what Weapon X did, wants a fighting team of his own, so he establishes the X-Men, with Magneto's help. Because the Professor is only now setting up the rules by which the team plays, this could actually be more brutal than any of the later stories. The problems are that they don't get along too well, and each member of the team has an agenda of his/her own, so the team falls apart in two-three movies.

I'd use both Essex and the Hellfire Club as villains. Essex is never called Mr Sinister, but looks mostly like his comic book self. He is after Scott and Jean, and got close ties to Gambit - which would become pretty important before the end . Finally Essex is defeated (but obviously survives). The Hellfire Club, on the other hand, can't be defeated, and explains why and how Emma leaves the team.

In the end, the increasingly important younger generation - the real "first class", as taught by Xavier, takes over. It could be a pretty dramatic moment, when, while having to face Essex, and cut off from the Professor's guidance, Scott assumes command. I never really liked that he just got to be team leader, because the Professor chose him. Here it could be explained what does Cyclops have that, for example, Beast doesn't. Of course, that would kind of contradict all Cyclops was in the first three movies.

It's confirmed its a teen story by Donner and she says it will put a lighter touch on the franchise. :(

Somewhat Random thought: What if they made this a TV show on fox? Would you guys watch it?
