Wii games running in 720p HD on PC

It looks like the techno-wizards behind the Wii emulator "Dolphin" have finally done it: they've gotten Wii games to run on PCs at playable speed, displayed in 720p high definition.

Technically, there's nothing illegal about this since you need the actual Wii game discs to play. It's pretty remarkable stuff they've got going on there.

That looks really nice, too bad Nintendo didn't opt for HD. I understand why they did and financially it was probably a proper decision, but this video definitely makes me wish they had
 
Couldnt Nintendo update their firmware to include 720p output for games? If not the current library, but future ones? Not a techno wiz, but I dont see why not.
 
^ What he said. It's not a matter of firmware, it's all about hardware. Wii simply doesn't have the juice to output games at 720p or 1080p, so it's not going to happen.
