I'm not joking. Sooner or later it will become one of the essential tools of everyday life. The scope of it is unbelievable, and although fase information can of course creep in, it's been so well handled that it's hard to find an entry which is anything less than professionally written.

I've learnt so much from it recently.

This is absolutely fascinating....

This is the Fermi paradox, which questions why there appears to be no intelligent life in space despite all the planets out there....

Spring-Heeled Jack, English folklore and an inspiration for early pulp heroes...

Gamma ray bursts....they last for a second yet are so powerful one could wipe out the Ozone layer....

Seriously.

Thank the God's for Wikipedia, because now, say I want to find a history of erotic goat photography or a list of giallo films, the thing is right at my fingertips and I don't have to go through the mindnumbing experience of interacting with actual PEOPLE at the library.

I like Wiki. You have the occasional problem of unsubstantiated info (particularly about future events) and some of the articles are slanted, but you can dig up some pretty good info on varied things there. Good place to for comics info.

Wikipedia + IMDB + Youtube.... some of the greatest inventions of Mankind since fire.

Wikipedia isn't an online library, it's a online encyclopedia.

Anyway, who do you need to interact with at a library?

Find the section you're looking for, get your books, check them out via computer systems. If you can't find what you require you can ask an assistant, but there are usually computers set up for people to search with.

Yeah, I find that the library is actually a great place to go to avoid people.

I read it on things that interest me whenever I'm bored. I was just fooling around to see if I could edit it without an account and it worked, but then I was warned and threatened to loose my wikipedia access, that was scary.

you spelled Joseph Campbell wrong.:cmad:

Man didn't create Wikipedia... I did.

I mean c'mon... an information library that can be changed arbitrarily....
It's what I'm ALL about.

I just sit and read wikipedia for hours at a time... people wonder how I know so much random stuff and dominate trivia games... effin wikipedia.... true conversation from playing a trivia game with my family at christmas...

"what was buffy the vampire slayer's last name?"
"summers"
"fan of the show, huh?"
"never seen it before"
"then how'd you know that?"
"... wikipedia man..."

I am often capable of the same thing:word:

Wikipedia is awsome, not only do its users get to edit and creat its articles but its comepletly free.

Besides, It has all of best articles on conspiracy theories. :o

the fermi paradox is interesting..but it isnt really persuasive.

Gamma ray bursts scare the hell out of me; and there's nothing we can do about it.

oo and ive heard the spring heel jack story..that is really fascinating..especially since there have been so many witnesses to it.

Wiki is awesome.
I love your Casshern avatar, Kev

I love wikipedia. I've so much useless information from there and used it to write a paper.

i get pissed when teachers tell you not to site wikipedia because its garbage and innacurate. BS all they want us to do is more work for useless sources. :o They know you can pretty much find anything on there and it's fairly accurate.

Wikipedia sure is a handy tool, but it's in no way a greater creation or achievement than simply that of any regular encyclopedia...

It IS better because real encyclopedias do not have any made up facts!

I know, wikipedia is just as accurate as book sources.

And it's free.

the answer to that question is only correct if reffering to the tv show and not the movie though, as she had no last name there...

on a side note, Ultimate Gah-Lak-Tus is the answer to the Fermi paradox, noobs
