Ok im sure this belongs in the joker thread but i wanted to know what you guys think of killing the villians in comic book movies in general also. To me some are ok like the green goblin, raz, ect. as long as its done right. Goblin died almost the same way he did in the comics & raz could be brought back easy if they chose to. Now it wont bother me to much if joker eats it as long as the movie is good but if i had my way he would either be locked up or it looks like he dies but they dont find a body. what do think? & has it been said if he dies or not?

Soon after Begins came out, writer David Goyer spoke of the planned trilogy. He indicated that the Joker would have a role to play in Batman 3.

Of course, things can change, and it's entirely possible that they'll kill him off, but as far as I know the plan is for him to survive (and be arrested).

I believe Nolan also made some comment, around the time of the Begins release, that he hated the killing off of all the villains in the previous films. People of course criticize him for then turning around and ganking Ra's, but as you pointed out Ra's can easily reappear at any time if they so desire, given the nature of the character.

I think it is ok to kill the villians in comic book movies because by the time you would want to see them again it is time for a reboot anyone and that starts things all over again. Since there are so many villians to fight you can easily kill them off. By the time they run out of villians 10 years could have easily past due to production of the films anyway. After that length of time most actors have moved on and they start over anyway.

Harry Potter will have a very touching death I'm sure

Hold on, I'm looking into my crystal ball...

...

No, he won't die.

He probably wont die, he'll just get locked up or somethin

wasn't confirmed by Goyer that the Joker would be the main villain also in the third movie?

I think they'll 'kill' him. The kind of death one can easily come back from.

i don't think the joker should die. what would be the point in relaunching the character only to kill him again?

dent dying in the third might be a good idea?

no, he'll not die ( i wish :csad: )

but maybe at the end of the movie Katie Holmes will back again to kill Maggie Gyllenhaal for revenge!!!!!!!!!!! :woot:
I'm sure of that ihihih

but i've a feel...
i think that will be a scene where scarecrow talk to batman about the joker before die...

I think Nolan understands the concept of Batman's villains as a rougues gallery and not just a series of villains-of-the-week who show up once. He'll know to keep Joker alive and in Arkham. Arkham always has served as the collection of these villains, and I think Nolan has enough presence of mind to use it that way. He won't kill off Joker in TDK or the next one.

If he "kills" the Joker, it should be done in a way he could come back from...if they're basing if off of Batman #1 as much as they say, I wouldnt mind seeing him thrown off a bridge into the river, the same way he "died" in it

I think he made it clear in Batman Begins that villains wouldn't just die at the end. Ras Al Ghul was left with an unclear ending and Scarecrow didn't die. It might make sense to have all the villains team up in #3 to take him on. That would give Batman an incredible challenge. It could also be a real mess. My hope is that they have #3 planned out already so that they can avoid the curse of the second sequel.

I think there will probably let joker live. and in the third one Two Face is probably the main villain Scarecrow will come back and team up with Two Face bust the Joker out and wreak Havoc in Gotham City

Wasn't the rumor that the last scene is the Joker in Arkham? I like that idea myself. I like the idea of not killing off the baddies in the movies, or if they seemingly die then its ambiguous as to whether they lived or not, like Ra's.

People of course criticize him for then turning around and ganking Ra's, but as you pointed out Ra's can easily reappear at any time if they so desire, given the nature of the character.
Sorry, "ganking"? Never heard that one before.

I think another reason for killing villains (let me see if I can phrase this right), is that you need to portray an entire story with a dramatic arc, and sometimes that requires whacking the bad guys. Since they don't really have the luxury of a hundred episodes to allow the Goblin and Ock and eventually the whole Sinister Six to come back continuously to menace Peter. That's also why Stryker and Deathstrike die in X2.

This just made me think that at the beginning of the 3rd Batman Begins movie, there could possibly be a filmed version of the opening to Killing Joke. Y'know the part where Batman goes to Arkham interrogates the Joker only to realize it isn't really the Joker...

oh how I hope that happens.

If Heath Ledger doesn't have a good or great peformance as The Joker in the Dark Knight I hope they don't bring him back for the third one.

I hate it when movies kill off villians who haven't died in the comics. That's one of the reasons I don't like the Spider-man films and the Burton Batman films.
