NOT that i am asking nolan to pull a schumacher, but do you guys think that this will be like Returns was and basically be a VERY adult, graphic bloody film with disturbing images, or will nolan kinda care about the younger audience as well? i mean, BB was not really a kids film, but kids could probably still enjoy it just like they did with B89 (*ahem* "batman will save us!" :whatever: ). but TDK looks like its gonna be darker then BB was, especially with the joker interpretation this time, hence the title "the DARK knight". im not sure what news we have yet, but this looks like it may not be a film that will be enjoyed by kids at all. my little cousin loves batman and i want to see this with him, but i dont know if it will be....safe for him to see.

What's wrong with "Batman will save us"? That's what kids want Batman to do let alone adults.

That kid prolly just got done playing grand theft auto, so he was already in the blood and chaos mood.

I thought he might be future Bond, he looked like Daniel Craig:wow:

But he ain't ugly...

That's like the first step, in three steps, of being gay.

First, it's like.. "you know, that kid in Batman Begins isn't ugly."

Then, it's like.. "I think I want to watch Batman Begins again, because I though that kid was kinda cute."

Then, it's like.. "I think I like dudes."

Hopefully.

Anything to get Nolan off the series.

I'm sure he's seen far more violent things than anything shown in a Batman movie.

Blah, who cares. To quote Mr. Krabs:

"Why? What have the children ever done for me?"

I agree with Shoemeister...Not that I hate them (tempting but I don't hate them) and I'm well aware of just how much of the Batman fan base is made up by these kids...But look what happened the last time those little s**ts whined. Warners copped out and brightened it up for them.

Not this time...never again...If they want the kiddies to be happy, keep pumping out episodes of "The Batman" and tell the kids to stay home and watch Kids WB.

I refuse to let a second Batman film franchise die because kids get scared.

Here's a big fat piece of advice parents, since "Returns" showed you're not smart enough to figure this out on your own...go see TDK BEFORE taking your kids. Don't assume just because it's Batman that means it's gonna be all hearts and flowers. See it as a test run, that way you can personally determine whether your tyke can take it or not. And we won't have to deal with parents crying foul play on the studio.

but then those same parents are going to say " I don't have the time to go to the movies and check them for my kid" and blah blah blah then pull that pro-american crap "I deserve to take my kids where I want and raise them how I like, I am going to take them to see SAW 4 because I want to see it"

Oh well most parents aren't smart these days and aren't willing to sacrifice more for the sake of their child. If their kid gets screwed up they want a scapegoat. oh well my little rant went no where but wasn't there a thread about this before?

I think the movie will be too dark for some children, yes. Especially the smaller ones. But the thing about that is, it has a PG-13 rating for a reason. With some PG-13 movies, it's still okay to take little kids to see them, but others come very close to crossing the line and becoming rated R. Like Spielberg's War of the Worlds... I'm still slightly surprised they got a PG-13 rating there. I remember when I went to see that in theaters, some stupid couple brought their 4 year old along and he was crying the whole time because he was scared. :whatever:

I don't think Warner Bros. will ever be able to forget the mistake they made with Batman and Robin, and I don't think they're going to want to compromise again and lighten things up, since that caused them the biggest financial loss of the movie series. Ultimately, if little kids go to this movie and get traumatized by it, the parents have no one to blame but themselves for not researching the movie and not heeding its rating.

The fact is: the kids loved BR. Most of 'em. It was the parents that were whining, afraid that a movie like that could make a weirdo out of their kid. When do people f'ing stop thinking that kids are stupid and every dark scares the sh't outta 'em? Trust me, they kinda like to be scared. It's teasing for them, at first they prefer not to look, but then... and as dark as it can get, there's always Batman to save the day. That's the f'ing point of these characters. Do we need a Dark Knight to save us from the Teletubbies?

all parents have to do is read reviews of it when it comes out and then they will know it's not for kiddies.... al gore didn't invent the internet for nothing people!! ;)

Yeah. But they can also do another thing. My parents teached me "that a movie is a f'ing movie. Fantasy. Nothing else." And that they don't have to emulate them.

Second step: stop whining about every f'ing punch in an action movie or every damn Catwoman that licks someone's face.

my parents died after we saw batman returns... A man took my parents money and shot them.... sigh..sometimes I want to be like Batman

Don't underestimate the kids. Children like being scared. Too many people want to wrap kids in a big protective bubble, and spoon-feed them mind-numbing crap in film and TV. I grew up on a diet of "Halloween" and "Nightmare on Elm Street" movies, and I loved it. I was traumatised, most likely, but I loved it. :woot: Hell, look at the old fairy tales, those are pretty damn gruesome when you think about them. Kids like being scared!

So I say, to heck with dumbing everythig down and glossing it all over "for the good of the children". I'd say it'd be "good" for them if you gave them a movie they'll still be able to look back and appreciate when they're adults. Like I do with, yes, "Batman Returns".

because of 89 I spent months splashing water on my parents to see if they were wearing make up

I think the only will only be just a bit darker than Batman Begins.

Are you serious or just kidding?

Seemed to me like an ironic response to GoogleMe, as that's where all his threads seem to inevitably lead.

What's wrong with dark? I think you're racist.

totally agree. the villians have to be darker to make the hero look better. thats the point to villians, you have to really make the situation look really bad and the villians really evil before you start to care about what the hero does. but i also believe that you need to flesh out the villians for this to work. which is why im hopeing that they really give joker his due, as he always deserves. make us care about him, in a way, so that we love the hero even more.
