He was brilliant in the role, but as his character developes he becomes masked... so essentially they could recast his role. Not that we would want it recast but potentially it could happen.

My question is Joseph Gordon-Levitt although he loved playing that role, he is a serious actor and prefers to be in things he thinks are great works like 500 days of summer. So lets say another good movie appears around the time of the sequel to GIJOE which will he do? He only considered Commander as a bit of fun.

If the sequel happens, I definately want him to return, whether he will or not i aint sure, just I aint that the sequel is happening.

He was great in the first one, and I'll be disappointed if he doesn't return. Even my brother who hates the movie with a seemingly unlimited amount of bile admits that Cobra Commander / The Doctor was good.

He made that movie, i know its not inkeeping with the story from the comics cartoons but i really hope Cobra Commander goes back to his doctor look i think Lovett hiding behind a mask is a shame but he is a good commander,

I liked his voice as The Doctor much better than his "Commander" voice, so I hope that they go back to it for the sequel. They should have him wearing his old respirator mask and then drape the Cobra Commander hood over it.

im pretty sure he will. he will probably get paid a hell of a lot more money now for any sequel, and since he like to try many different genre's, I don't think he is suddenly going to become a stuck up pompous actor like many others.

he was on 3rd rock from the sun, one of the funniest ever tv shows, so you can tell he likes to have fun when making movies.

bring him back.

I'm pretty sure that everyone from the first one had a 3 picture deal. Obviously, there are ways to get out of it if they're deadset against being in it, but I'm pretty sure that the whole cast will be back.

Didn't they alledgedly nix the Hooded mask because it looked to much like KKK?

They'll go with the helmet to avoid any controversy.

You guys really liked him? I hated his character and his artificial voice that never sounded like it was coming from him.

I disliked the costume and didn't see the need to Darth Vader his voice at the end but I definitely preferred his portrayal over most of the animated series and movies.

I'd be surprised if he is even proud of being part of the film. If I were him I'd take the George Clooney approach to it and apologize to anyone that paid to see it and refund their money.

IMO G. I. Joe was no where near as bad as Batman and Robin and I liked it alot more then Transformers 2 but I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't proud of it.

But based on his interviews leading up to the release, JGL genuinely sounded like he had loads of fun on the set; which wouldn't be surprising since he was allowed to ham it up so much he probably built a pig from scratch.

I'd like to see him play the Riddler in Nolan's next Batfilm.

Riddler's not in the next Batman movie, though.

If he does indeed get a role in DKR, then I think its safe to say he wont be back, it'll be a damn shame if he isnt, he was easily one of the best parts of the first movie.

Depends on when filming is and if the GI Joe 2 is for summer for 2012. TDKR is from late April- December. I doubt JGL will need for filming that long since they major roles already been casted. So JGL screen time will most liekly be around 15 minutes- 20 minutes. He could do another film.

^ Yup. Unless someone is playing the main character in a movie, schedule conflicts don't pop up that often. Neither his role in Batman 3 or GI Joe 2 will probably require him to be on set for long. And it's not like he has to go through intense physical training for either movie, especially since Cobra Commander wears a mask meaning that stunt doubles can easily do any physical work on set.

i said they would recast him.... he made that movie - leaving him out you might as well make it a sinking ship.
