Will Obama close Negative Zone"gulag", will Marvel heroes attend inauguration?

There wasn't an official war in Civil War, but there were people who violated the law vs. people tasked with bringing them in and forcing them to comply. The difference is that most of those people in 42 are American citizens, so it doesn't even have Gitmo's paper-thin justification that they're "enemy combatants"--they're Americans with inalienable rights under the Constitution. In that sense 42 might actually be worse than Gitmo if it actually existed.

Looks like the prisoners in 42 have been left to rot in the Negative Zone. So it's up to the Guardians of the Galaxy to bring them home.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown was in Captain Britain and MI:13. I think the real Gordon Brown is a Skrull which is why he is so uncomfortable smiling

Just give it time. The influence of having Obama as president hasn't quite happened yet. After it gets into the minds of the creators, maybe we'll see things change a little. No pun intended.

Obama's gonna be all over Thunderbolts soon, questioning Norman's unprecedented level of power. I'd almost be excited, except it's clearly not going to lead anywhere, since Norman's still going to be in power after all's said and done.

Well, we're already getting tired of it. And we know status quo is always in flux in comics.

Not that in flux. It's gonna take another big event that I'm sure Marvel already has planned out to get rid of Norman and disband the Illuminaughty.

The Dark Reign was already planned before early last year.

Don't know if you guy's have cleared this one up yet but... I'm pretty sure Obama didn't appoint Osborn. I'll go back and check my SI #8 copy to be sure as far as that goes.
But also, in Thunderbolts #128 (which I haven't read yet and won't until next week) from what's in the preview at Marvel.com Obama has a meeting with Osborn where he expresses his feelings that Norman has been given too much power for one man (not mentioning one crazy man) so it would seem that Bush appointed Osborn, not Obama.

Nuff said?

And if you ask me, if the 616 universe were in fact our real world. Obama would still have many problems to deal with before he started worrying about the super-human community.

This kills me that Marvel wants us to believe this all takes place in the real world with real presidents and all that, but they refuse to let their characters grow older or move from one phase in life to the next. In the end it just makes everything feel dated and stupid. Yeah, Franklin Richards is what now, Nine? You know, I'm pretty sure he's been around in comics the same time we saw Clinton in them and other presidents previous. (I say Clinton because I've seen Clinton in a comic, don't recall any previous presidents). How do they explain that we've been through how many presidents for all their terms, and yet, Franklin can't age?

Oh, and people can't grow up with spidey as time passes and presidents come and go? No, Spidey has to stay a freakin' college kid out to get his schlong waxed by differant woman to seem more relatable. No family for him. We married people who grew up with him just couldn't relate to that kind of change. Can't have new characters be that young relatable character. Nope. Always 40 something year old peter parker, always in his early twenties and single, or it's just not right!

Grumble grumble.

It is pretty ridiculous.

But, on the other hand, it's a lot more digestable to my brain for Bush and/or Cheney to have appointed Norman and left Obama sitting with this psycho in command of an unprecedented level of power than it was for me to believe Obama would appoint Norman himself.

Yeah after reading the last issue of Thunderbolts it made more sense to me. Obama a) didn't personally appoint him and b) seemed to be against the idea untill Osborn pulled the whole scam he had planned to further make himself look good to Obama directly. (at the expense of Leonard Samson no less)

So all in all MU Obama isnt a moron he just got tricked by Osborn just like the rest of the world. There's no shame in that really. Osborn is one devious man.

Bush paved the way for Osborn (as shown in Thunderbolts), but Secret Invasion clearly shows that Obama was the one who disbanded SHIELD and appointed him. Since the comics are showing that Norman is still setting everything up, I interpret that as Obama is making sure that he's fit before everything is finalized.

That and Diggle doesn't write him as a ****** like the rest of Marvel.

What kills me is that the heroes were content to let villains get processed thru the turnstyle prison system and as soon as Captain America disagrees with them now there is a need for a superhuman prison for their compatriots.

To be fair, that's really just another case of Civil War conveniently ignoring continuity that doesn't support the story it wanted to tell. There's been superhuman prisons in the Marvel U for a long time now.

well my point is Green Goblin can firebomb a building and Spidey will swing in and save people and Goblin gets away and the hero(just an example) will be content to be a hero until evil rears its head again....Cap disagrees and the Pro heroes are about to concentration camp comrades who fought along side with them
