I mean, he has to at some point right? They can't just drag out this subplot of keeping his resurrection secret from the rest of the Avengers no? I mean, he was willing to break his cover to someone like Sif, perhaps revealing himself to rest of the Avengers is not far off.

But the way things are going, Phil may have to keep a low profile now that he and his team are now [BLACKOUT]wanted fugitives[/BLACKOUT].

What do you all think?

If we make sacrifices to the almighty Whedon ... the Son of Cole will return to us someday, when we need him the most.

Yea dude, it bums most of us. I'm sure we will see him return to the movies eventually. AOS isn't that bad of a thrill ride in the meantime, huh? :yay:

Dude. I'm not hating on the series. Unlike most people, I think it's been consistently good throughout the season, and the quality of the episodes just went up ever since the aftermath of The Winter Soldier.

I just want to see Phil Coulson interacting with the rest of the heroes once more. It's great that he's gotten his own series though.

I think it's very plausible following on from WS.

I'm pretty sure he'll appear in one of the next two Avengers flix. They can't keep doing the "Don't tell him I'm alive" thing forever. And I doubt they have a scene in one of the films of Fury or Hill telling the Avengers."Oh yeah.Coulson's alive....oh,never mind that now."

The biggest problem is having the show link up to the movie (since obviously they won't have a big part for every member of the show's cast) and have Coulson able to verbalize why he's alive in a scene that's ten seconds or less.

I haven't heard any reports of him being in Age of Ultron, but that's the most logical place for it. I'm assuming the movies want to take care of it, but I think they have a limited chance before it gets too cumbersome.

Bringing back Son of Coul to Avengers will be a huge moment for fans of Agents of SHIELD, but to your average movie going schmuck, they'll be confused.

That said, I really want him back in the films, his presence as the lynchpin between the films has been sorely missing in Phase 2. As fun as AoS is, having Son of Coul pop in and be exasperated with Tony was absolutely superb.

I'd also love to see the Avengers' reaction to his resurrection

They're definitely keeping it for a movie reveal.
A) They wouldn't have bothered saying Coulson would rather tell Thor himself.
B) The big 3 Avengers likely won't each appear on the show. (unless they take advantage of the team being together filming the new movie to do a small post credits scene for the show, but I have my doubts.)
C) They'll want to do it all at the same time so they don't have to do it multiple times.
D) It'll be a big dramatic scene, almost as big as his death. Those are opportunities you don't want to waste.
E) They'll probably give him a side mission in the movie "You take care of Ultron, me and my team will go capture Batroc (or whoever)" and they'll have a few episodes of the show for that.

I really want Son of Coul to send out invites to the Avengers to a special party in their honour at a Schwarma place. They're all there saying "huh, this was my party?" and then he steps out of the shadows with "COULSON'S ALIVE!"

*cue Tony fainting like a girl*

Id like to think so....I think after WS its going to change things as its set 2 years in the future so eventually
SHIELD will be no more thanks to HYDRA so he has to get involved in the aftermath....he'll be one of the few loyal to SHIELD

I would imagine Coulson will be in Avengers 3 if he won't be in Age of Ultron or he'll at least referenced to by one of the characters.

The MCU is getting packed full of characters already, and we have only just begun. Many, many more are on the way. I'm fine with Coulson not eating up any more time in the movies that could go to someone else. That said, at some point on AoS they should state that the Avengers are aware that Coulson is alive.

Yes, I believe that he'll pop up in a future film eventually. They'll want to milk the "Avengers find out that Coulson is still alive" thing for maximum drama. And that'll only happen if the Avengers are actually present during the big reveal.

Very sorry if it came across that way. It was never my intention to imply that you were.

I just want Thor to lead out with "Sayeth whaaaaat, you Son of a Coul, you're aliveth!"

Here is how to do it.
Avengers seemingly beaten. Ultron hold the hulk up like rag doll. Phil steps out hits Ultron with a destroyer rifle. Rallying the team.

While agree that Coulson is no longer necessary for the movie universe, I think he deserves an actual on-screen reveal to the Avengers that he's still alive. Since that isn't going to happen in the show, it would necessitate at least one more movie appearance. My hope is to just get it over with in AoU. If they waited for Avengers 3, they'd limit their opportunities if one of the Avengers actually wanted to appear on the show.

How do we know Tony doesn't already know that Phil is alive. After the events of WS when Widow released everything online, some how Jarvis and Tony never saw that part of the documents. Or reports filed by Coulson about briefings of missions his team have been on.
So I'm pretty sure Tony knows.

That's possible.

I think it'd be neat if they put a young, rookie Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg, de-aged with CGI) into the supposed 80's scene in Guardians of the Galaxy, since it seems S.H.I.E.L.D. may or may not have a presence in those scenes, judging by those set pictures with the S.H.I.E.L.D. vehicles.

releasing everything doesn't always mean they released everything

It turns out that Starlord's Walkman is actually Son of Coul's :woot:

On AoS he told Hill to say hi to Tony, then released he still thinks he's dead.

Also he is aware of 'Real Life Decoys' so he's going to know. His involvement with SHIELD is still ongoing 2 years after the events of Iron Man 3 as mentioned briefly in WS. (There's no actual spoiler there so the tags aint going on)

He has access to alot of stuff that SHIELD cant stop him from accessing so he'll know...I think, because it hit him the most in the Avengers film, that he'll be the one to spring the news on people.
