He was coming off such a huge high in his career (probably his peak). An Oscar nomination and big box office for The Pursuit of Happyness and then back-to-back blockbusters I Am Legend and Hancock and then a smaller piece with Seven Pounds. Guy needed a break.

To be fair, he also looked like he was focusing on his son's acting career there with Karate Kid in 2010.

It's 2015 and it's still very rare to see interracial couples in Film and TV particularly black male and white female. If you do see an interracial couple ( black male & white female) it's even more rare to see them kiss on the lips or have a love making scene. But it seems Margot and Will do kiss at least once in this movie. Margot doesn't seem to mind co starring with Will and she is in her 20's and Will is 46. But I assume there are some white female actors that are encouraged NOT to take roles that involve interracial stuff ( which is sad really).
