With the success of Lord of the Rings and other fanasty/medievil films I can't understand why no studio has exercised an option on the Dragonlance Trilogy. Now I know this is up for arguement, but I happen to think that Dragonlance is a better series than Lord of the Rings. I enjoyed the Dragonlance books much more and I think that the story would transfer to film very well. Granted, the Dragonlance trilogy gets much of it's influence from Lord of the Rings, but so does pretty much any other fanatsy series since LOTR. Dragonlance has much more varitey in it's character and I personally feel more interesting characters. When Sturm dies I teared up, in LOTR I just didn't connect with the characters the same way.
Also the action scenes in Dragonlance have the potential to blow away anything the LOTR movies did. I'm just wondering will this franchise ever become a movie franchise, if so when, does it just need more time so it doesn't get the LOTR comparisons? If not, then why? Why would Hollywood skip over such a fasicnating and potentially blockbuster series?
