Superman Returns Will they make sequel?

There might be a Superman and no it won't be a sequel to this "version". Tomorrow is ground zero for Returns. Singer failed on this one, horridly. The actors should bear no blame.

 No they didn't. I love when people view their opinion as fact. Superman is save and will get a sequel. I wouldn't be surprised to here the official word around the time the DVD is released.

As I can see, SR makes BB's numbers with not bad legs.

Well it can make $130m at the end of this week and then $205-215m in total.

Will it be flop? Because the official budget is $260m.

And if it makes near BB's numbers, will we see sequel?

If yes, then will Singer come back?

What you think?

Where did you hear that the 260 mill figure is the "official budget"? I have heard 204 mill. I'd like to hear someone at WB say that they're lumping in the last 20 years of budgeting into THIS movie before I actually believe that.

And yes, there will be a sequel. The movie is close to 150 mill worldwide right now. It'll easily hit the 300 to 400 mill mark if it stays in the theater long enough.

Yes but hopefully Singer and his crap is away from it. Start over again with a good director who knows a good story and some actual Superman mythos besides a few 70s movies.

God, I'd love for this to be true.

The Official Budget is not 260 million, check out the thread I made on that.

A sequel has already been confirmed: Warner Bros. announced plans for a Superman VI several months before the release of the movie; pre-production is planned to begin in late 2007/early 2008, and it's scheduled to be released in Summer of 2009.[5]

Singer has alreay started to clear his schedule to shoot this film in late 2007 andin 2008.

PS: THE BUDGET IS NOT 260 MILLION!!!! WHO TOLD U THAT CRAP! WHEN WAS IT CONFIRMED!! ITS 204 Million.....

that is all.

We'll never get anything official from Warners on budgets; it's not something *any* studio likes to publicize.

The movie is close to 150 mill worldwide right now.
Mojo has it at $134.5M ww right now. Whereja get the 150 figure? Just curious.

Please note that Wikipedia isn't really that much of a realiable source for movies.

Building off two of the best superhero films ever is hardly a bad idea. Don't be so quick to write off Singer. You have no clue what he has in store for the sequel.

singer improved from x1 to x2, i think if he does a sequel to supes it will be much better and a more tighter script. lets hope he does get that chance.

Its inevitable. There WILL be another Superman film. WB didn't go to all the trouble (a decade worth of it) to stop with one outting. It's gonna happen!

Dude, seriously wait 'til the extended version comes out with all the Krypton scenes and farm scenes and quiet a few more. I think you'll have a change of heart, but then again I am the eternal optomist.

And just think that the next film won't carry all of that baggage. The next film should be strong indeed!

Haters everywhere....

It amazes me that people take time out of their busy lives to spit on a film, especially one as great as Superman Returns.

A sequel will get made, Singer will direct it and I'll be in line to see it. The funny part is, so will all the haters.

Interesting fact - there are companies out there that hire ad agencies to go on message boards and chat rooms to promote their products. I'm guessing that some are there to trash talk other companies products as well.

Thanks for bringing a nice dose of practicallity to these boards, FantasticThing. It must be the fashional thing to bash SR right now. This place is like the weather its always changing.

Because it's never been OFFICIALLY confirmed. Why is it so hard for YOU to understand that?

Show me a source claiming that is the official budget and I'll shut up about it. Until then, it's around 200 million as Singer has already stated.

:O I think that is because its rather obvious. Those failed starts had to factor in somewhere.

I definitely see a sequel coming, here's why:

1) The general audience was a little skeptical about this about Supes 3 and 4, similar to how the general audience was skeptical about Batman Begins after Forever and Robin. The film will have lasting power because of that skepticism- maybe not the same lasting power of Batman Begins, but close, and I see domestic Box Office still being around 200mill.

That has nothing to do with the disappointing box office. Most of the movie's key demographic weren't around for or can't remember SM3 and SM4.

2) Combining foreign B.O. Gross, the absolute worst case scenario will be breaking even, and that's if it has a horrible foreign box office.

3) That leaves dvd sales and the insane amount of merchandising this film has.

4) Then, after those profits, the general audience will be ready for a sequel, after realizing that this film wasn't as bad as they were afraid of.

You people are really starting to sound like Serenity fans.

There's gonna be another one. Like i've said in other posts, WB is not gonna walk away from all the potential money they could make.
