Transformers Will Transformers Trounce the Competition?

I don't see this film making over 175 million. 200 will be a major struggle IMO and not very probable. Too much competition. Harry Potter a week later.

I'll call you on that. This movie is going to have much more repeat viewings than Harry Potter. HP will have a big weekend but I don't think that it will draw audiences back to it again and again like Transformers will. Transformers will have that fun, action filled family energy that will bring back repeat viewers. I believe your numbers are waay too low. 300 itself has brought in over $208 mil and that's an R rated gorefest...but it was action packed and brought in repeat viewers. And action is something this movie will not lack.

I agree, I think Transformers will seriously beat out Harry Potter in B.O.

It's also got the most new types of "wow, did I just see what I thought I saw?" effects.

We can expect a strong opening for the film and what with the fact that the Unicron generation is still ripe for the picking that the film will do well. Then there's also word-of-mouth. When was the last time you 10-34 feet robots beating the crap out of each other?

Exactly. As I said the effects are going to be, "wow, dude- did I just see what I thought I saw?! We have to go again!"

Can anyone tell me if there’s been another trailer for DH4. Haven’t heard anything since the trailer came out and news the studio is pushing up the release date.

Transformers will "trounce" Bay’s other movies. It will put respectable numbers against Harry unless the Order of the Phoenix has giant robots (I haven’t read the books). If that's the case :trans: is so screwed!

Yikes!!! I just found out that they do. Harry's broom stick expands, grows arms and is litterally a transformer disguising itself as a broom stick!

People said the same crap about Superman Returns(>200million domestically) and that film had to compete against Pirates of the Carribean 2. Transformers should have no trouble making over 200million domestically. It will probably make 325 to 400 million so a sequel being made is inevitable.

Transformers only problem, at this point, is if all these other movies prior to it turn out to be disappointments it can sour the market in general. SR fell victim to the crap that was X3 IMO.

SR's disappointing box office had nothing to do with X3.

SR wasn't that enjoyable. End of story.

I swear, if people could blame X3 for strife in Iraq, they would.

hahahaha!!so true! i believe it HAS been compared to iraq plenty of time though:woot:

X3's the reason for crime escalation against those who we consider different because Rogue took the cure.

if transformers is any near or better than x3 ill be more than pleased.

If transformers is anywhere near as bad as X3 in terms of horrible dialogue, huge plotholes, and lame storyline then I will be pissed. At least the running time is 15 minutes longer than X3.

Huh???? Last I heard it was high above 2 hrs with POTC and SM.

Can't you people go one thread anywhere in this board wth out complaining about X3?

Don't think so J. That's a pretty difficult challenge. One that I and many here are not up to.

I agree with you, but I really believe people will flock to see something new. Given that people are responding to the 3 sequels with a universal "Meh, It's okay, WORST of the series". I think IF Transformers has that Wow factor, and is pretty much easy to digest, I think it will be THE movie of the summer.

It's got the popularity, it's got the built in fanbase, it's got the visuals, and it got big name people making it who have delivered in the past. Despite what vocal fans say, I think their opinions will go the way of Organic web shooters. No one outside of sites like this will care. It will make bank.

:trans:

I still can't believe I'm going to be seeing Optimus Prime on the big screen blowing stuff up. It's just, I can't find the words...

I read an article about the backlash against all these sequels now and I think it's spot on. We're just getting tired of them so we've become more cynical with prettymuch every big sfx blockbuster... It's just too bang bang bang, in and out with these sequels. Audiences are starting to realize we're recieving mediocre films that don't live up to their previous installments.

That won't be the case with transformers since it's the first one.
