Transformers Will Transformers Trounce the Competition?

Huh???? Last I heard it was high above 2 hrs with POTC and SM.

One of the cast members originally said the movie was 2 hours and 30minutes. However, a few weeks ago transformers live confirmed that the version released in the theaters would be 2 hours. I'm sure the DVD version of transformers will be 2 and a half hours or longer.:yay:

Transformers live?

And that makes sense, actually... only hate to think of what scenes they may have taken out. As long as my key favorite character scenes are in there (primary human character focus on Sam Witwicky) all is good in my book... that with all the Transformers action still in tact.

I think the scene that was deleted was the opening with Witwicky's great great grandfather- because that was mentioned to have been cut in a review a while ago.

In terms of highest grossing movie, I think Transformers will fall in the 4th or 5th place.

Sounds about right.

It will have a strong opening weekend, but in the 70 million range -- not Spidey, Pirates and Shrek opening 100 millon numbers.

I think it will have a stronger opening weekend than that. I'm predicting somewhere in the range of 90-105million. That opening will guarantee a sequel.

If it wins "Most Anticipated Summer Movie" at the MTV awards, that will dramatically change opening weekend numbers. You can't buy that kind of publicity for your target audience.

After seeing both Spidey3 and POTC3 i can say that Transformers will be a better movie than both of them.

In terms of $$$$ i'm not entirely sure where it'll end up.

Spidey3 took me two viewings before i got a lot of the twists and wotnot.

POTC3 (which i've just come out of) was more convoluted than Spidey3. sides were swapped every two minutes and the way the finished the movie was cucking frap. I can't see how they could do any more with the way the ended it. Don't get me wrong there were good points about it (The CGI was the main one) but they were overshadowed by the foul-ups.

Transformers is looking more likely to be the big blockbuster this summer

^ Howabout watching Transformers 1st before you make a statement like that. LOL As far as the box office is Trasnformers comes close to 200 million I'll be shocked. 175 tops. Die Hard being PG-13 though the "die hard" fans are pissed...will bring in some big bucks as well. I wouldn't dismiss that franchise. The only mega film left is Harry Potter this year. Right? I mean with potential to crack 250 million.

Die safe or Live soft will flop because it's not R

I agree slightly with you Wesyeed. I'm not sure about flopping (The trailer made it look rather interesting) but the PG-13 rating will mean that it loses some of it's 'Diehardness' and some of it's profits i think.

I'm saying Transformers does 230 million domestic.

Tops. It will be War of The Worlds type of numbers, IMO.

That's if it doesn't flop.

Anyone who thinks it will get anywhere near Spidey/Pirates/Shrek numbers (as far as their other hits in the respective franchises) are smoking something very lethal.

What makes you think it will do only 175 tops? 300 made more than 208 and it was rated R and you think a film that has Steven Spielberg's and Michael Bay's namne attached won't break 200? Transformers will be fresh just like 300...to the audience. They've seen the Shreks, SMs and Pirates action before. Yeah, HP will do its usual 250+ but I think Transformers will have legs due to its fun factor.

you never know, especially after this summer of "kinda bland been there/ done that" sequels. It wont "flop". Actually, it's damn pathetic to say any of these sequels dissapointed box office wise anyway, but in Transformers case it will make a Bank, then the Bank will Transform into a Robot.

Lol. Cool.

So is the Simpsons movie out of the picture?

? That will make money, but be stomped on once the Transformers arrive. As Godzilla said-

SIZE
DOES
MATTER
!!!!!!!!!!!!

Over compensating much? I don't think so. Lol.

So is the Simpsons movie out of the picture?

I didn't count it...I don't know how big of an effect The Simpsons might have on anything since the movie is about 10 or 15 years too late. You never know though...it might just have very good word of mouth and pull in Shrek-like numbers. But I'm not going to see it.

Fair enough, its just that I saw in another thread how people are underestemating the Simpsons movie, I still don't know what to think of it.

It'll be smart and funny. But Family Guy has stolen a lot of Simpsons thunder. When you hit up funny video clip sites you don't see a whole lot of Simpsons clips...but a ****load of Family Guy ones. Like I said, I think The Simpsons Movie is about 10 - 15 years too late.

I saw a trailer for Transformers at the Pirates 3 showing the other day. The newest ones and it just doesn't impress me at all. I was hoping with each piece of new footage or with each new trailer it would get more interesting but it just looked like a bunch of cgi robots jumping around. I did like the one scene though when the one jumped up into the air and turned into a jet but it all looked fake like it didn't seamlessly fit in with the environment. Yeah I'll still see it when it comes out in hopes it's fun. Daywatch is next up for me.

BO-wise no but i think it will give the audience the biggest awe factor this summer and it's CGI will be the best of the year

damn right:cwink:

even though everyone else hates it.

..and even though its opening in "select theaters":o

TF will own sm3 and shrek... and maybe pirates in terms of coolness factor.(i thought pirates was perfection).

lol if TF sucks.. themovieblog.com will commit suicide:woot:

when I went to see POTC I made it in just in time for the movie to start so I bet I could of saw that trailer since the theater had a coming soon Transformers poster.

You think? I didn't think it looked that good at all. It looked like a cartoon overlayed ontop of an action movie where the characters couldn't seem to understand where these CGI things were going to be during the filming. It didn't look anything near as clean as Pirates (blah to me) or Spidey 3. In fact the Day Watch trailer is far more impressive...and this is coming from someone who really enjoy's Michael Bay films. While everyone on these boards bashed him I maintained my sentiment. His films make money. It's the spiraling cars that we're all getting tired of. I loved The Island.

Oh well i thought it was clearly the best CGI of any trailer this year,Daywatch looks ok but exactly what it is which is a low budget flick with obvious CGI and SM3 was better than previous 2 in CGI but was still ropey in a few parts and not overly special IMO
