will you, or won't you??

Probably not. This movie has all the earmarks of being another dissappointing adaptation of pop culture icons. Besides, they've pretty much already said this isn't Gen1 and that their doing their own thing. They haven't come right out and said so (no doubt, they don't want to throw cold water on the expectations of potential moviegoers) but for all intent and purposes, this is basically TINO.

sigh.....

After SM3 and the Potter films have run their course, I have a bad feeling the scifi/fantasy film genre is going to fall back into the same pathetic rut it was in before the LOTR films; no one truly taking the subject matter or genre serious and just rehashing old ideas.

I plan on breaking my personal record of seeing a film in the movie theatre multiple times [The Phantom Menace, 7 times] . . . can't wait.

Yes but maybe not on opening weekend

Thegameq, I will see SM3 [although I'm not excited about it at all compared to TF], and Harry Potter, I've only seen the first movie [just not for me].

Don't get me wrong I really like SM, I even own the first two on DVD, but they're never that exciting to me on the big screen. I used to enjoy the comics, and in the films I enjoy the drama.

With TF that is a whole another animal for me. I own some of the toys [about 40 of them; from different "epochs"], some comic books, and all seasons of: G1, BeastWars, TF the Movie, and one "Cybertron" DVD. Eversince I were a wee lad, I'd imagined robots roaming the streets . . . something we'll actually get tot see:)

For the love of God...TINO? That is not accurate...at all. Transformers is a concept that has enjoyed countless different continuities and incarnations, each different than the last. This is just a new incarnation, and judging from the early draft of the script they have done a very good job updating the story for the big screen.

I'll probably give it a viewing, if only to hear Peter Cullen voicing Optimus Prime.

I'll probably try and see a midnight showing of it. Probably see it 2-3 times if it's as tasty as I hope it will be. :)

I will be seeing this. F' tha hatas! Day ONE FEMALE DOGS AKA BEOTCHES.

Well, I'm not a hater, but I'm being overly cautious. I was fooled into thinking GINO would be this awesome experience.

The one differance with GINO was that they americanized a japanese icon and made him into this fool. Because Godzilla represented America. Therefore, when some americans got ahold of it they raped it of its dignity and threw out that garbage known as Godzilla aka GINO.

Where as TF is a japanese cartoon that more people in the industry respect.

Actually the Transformers was an American cartoon based on a toy line created in Japan, but I understand what you're trying to say. The big problem with GINO is that it emasculated the Godzilla character by eliminating all of his abilities and turning him into this weakened, egg laying, mutant iguana instead of a nuclear powered dinosaur. Tristar even found a way to screw up the real thing with Godzilla 2000. I highly recommend you watch the Japanese version and compare. I certainly hope that the Transformers aren't treated with that much disrespect by all involved.

I saw it in the theater and I cried. G2K was horrid.

BUT!!!

Godzilla Final Wars is farking awesomeness. MUST SEE Godzilla2000.

And Godzilla: S.O.S is great and so is Godzilla v Mechagodzilla from 2004.

Well, if only to see the real Godzilla defeat his cheap, American knockoff....:D And I really prefer the Japanese version of G2K. The lines they came up with for the English language version were atrocious!

No. I have never seen a Michael Bay movie in theaters and I never will. Since all of his movies have sucked, there is a good chance this one will to, which is unfortunate.

I don't think Bay respects TF, he's just making the movie another opportunity for him to inject his usual Bay-cliches into it.

I didn't mean you must see Godzilla2000. I was saying Godzilla2000, you must see Final Wars.

I only watch subtitles. Dubs suck. Especially in Godzilla Movies.

BTW ... Bay is a director. All he does is tell the actors how to evoke emotion. Its the writers and producers that are to blame if a comic movie sucks. Unless if the director is co-writer; like Raimi. As far as I know Bay is director only.

Good job, you just described only about 1/3 of a director's job. :(

Bay was working with the writers even before he was confirmed BTW.

I'm definitely gonna check this film out. Are there negligible things about the production I don't like? Sure, but overall I think it will be a good movie based on a property I love, so I gotta see it.
