Now, I'm not one to complain. I'm super-hyped for "The Dark Knight", and think the cast is awesome. When William Fichtner was added to the cast, I was very excited, thinking, "GREAT! Another excellent actor joins the Batman ensemble!" But then I hear he's playing...the Bank Manager.

Not exactly a huge role. In fact, probably it's nothing bigger than a single scene. Now, I know William Fichtner is hardly a household name, but he IS a respected character actor, whose profile has been significantly raised by his part in "Prison Break". In fact, ironically enough, he was one of the names mentioned as a candidate for Joker back when all the countless "Cast The Joker!" threads were popping up. I just think it's a shame to throw him away on a role that pretty much any no-name could play.

You know who I think Fichtner would have been PERFECT for? Jeremiah Arkham.

Its just a cameo, really. He's apparently friends with Nolan or something, so he decided to do a small role for him.

For all we know he has a busy schedule and doens't have the time to do anything bigger than a single scene.

^Exactly - his schedule could have limited him to doing just that scene.

For all we know Nolan might have wanted him for a larger role, but it couldn't due to his schedule.

Well you know it's gonna be one hell of a scene. I think alot of people will recognise him in the bank robbery and and think 'yeah cool', he'll bring something extra to it that no other no-name could. And it's better to be offed by the Joker than nothing at all!

I know what you mean though.

Hey he could be in Nolan's next movie the Prisoner! Smart move by William if you ask me.

I so thought this thread was going to have some hilarious pictures of a drunk William wondering down Chicago streets.

:(

I agree with Keyser, in BB Ken Watanabe was wasted as well. Don't get me wrong I don't hate Liam Neeson I'm big fan of him but I thought Watanabe looked great as Ra's Al Ghul, I'm sure Fichner will great as the bank manager.

It does seem a bit odd a character actor like him, seemingly, poping up in a role to be off-ed within a couple of minutes. I have a sneaking feeling, as this is a Nolan film, he'll feature in a flashback or two

On the one hand I can see why people would think he's wasted because of his role. On the other hand I'd rather have Fichtner than some nobody playing the bank manager.

Actually, the only reason I come on these boards is to see pictures of intoxicated celebrities.

Again, my hopes have been dashed...

well, i for one would want to see how that scene will play out first. if it crates enough impact on the moviegoer i dont see Fichtner's being wasted on the film, but if like Watanabe he's only remembered as the "fake Ra's Al Gul" then indeed it would be a shame.

but you know what, with Nolan's growing reputation as being an actors' director actors will be lining up to be in his film no matter how big or small the role will be.

Oh how I like you, Normy from another...Mo(r)mmy.

Who says we have DIFFERENT Mommys? [Cue "All My Circuits" music]

Fichtner always sort of has a face like he's been up all night, sitting in a dark room with a glass of bourbon in his hand, staring at a TV screen and thinking about things you can get arrested for.

Even if its just a small role its such a great cast. One or two more good actors and this cast could rival "Heat" as far as overall talent.

William Fichtner's in everything. He played one of the bats in "Batman Begins".

Only thing I remember him from is Longest Yard and Black Hawk Down.

Fichtner is like Eric Roberts, been in so many movies i've seen over the years, he's been more like its-that-guy-whatsisname. i'm glad that they get some good exposure in high profile films like TDK, proven actors like them should be the ones getting awards noms.

Guys, Nolan used award winning Rade Serbedzija for the two lines of the homeless in Batman Begins. When you have so much money to spend, you can afford to waste them.

maybe, Finchtner, will become, the Bruce Campbell of the batman movies and make random cameos in all the sequeals LOL

AHH! VAMPIRE!!! VAMPIRE! WATCH OUT!!!
B|TCH GET OUTTA THE ROOM!!!!!
