Personally, I liked Sam Elliott but obviously, this is a redo.

Hurt's an exceptional actor. If he does the job well, the audience will barely be able to recognize him.

We'll see.

I thought it said William H. Macy at first..

Well I guess this can be good. I don't really remember watching his movies, but I did watch A Midsummer Night's Dream a couple weeks ago.

I didn't think the cast would get any better but it did. Wow!

As LostSon88 points out it's obviously a reboot.Despite sequel options it seems like the director and Marvel never tried to get the original cast back - Bana, Connelly, Nolte, Josh Lucas and sadly Sam Elliott. Lets hope Hurt can nail the role. He's a great actor so i'm confident he can.:hyper:

great casting, i would have liked Sam to come back but this is a great cast and he's a great actor IMO

As much as I loved Sam Elliot in the role, I think its fitting that they do a recast since they are going in a different direction with the film. And the casting just keeps getting better.

Never even though of him. Great choice. Altered States baby!!! Ed Harris was my #1 pic. Both him and Hurt were in History of Violence. Solid freaking cast.

Hurt should be ok. He's a good actor. But Elliot's portrayal of General Ross was pretty spot on I felt.

^ Yeah but they're washing their hands of anything that resembles the first one from top to bottom.

Wow this movie is looking more interesting

Yes, I've noticed.

It's not a bad thing. Just think of it as a different vision/take on the character. We saw one love it or hate it...now we're seeing another. This one is shaping up better than the original as far as casting and Louis Leterrier is honestly more suitable for this franchise then Ang Lee. Keep in mind I loved Ang Lee's Hulk. Marvel's going all out on these films guys you should have any concerns like some of you have with Fox or Lionsgate.

I have mixed feelings everytime a new name is announced.:(

Thanks for this optimistic post, Advanced Dark. You bring up some very good points for those of us who enjoyed Lee's take on the character, and who may or may not have obvious mixed feelings everytime a new name is announced for certain roles.

^ I'm always optimistic at first. My biggest letdowns ever so far have been War of the Worlds, Jurassic Park, and King Kong. All 3 had great directors who just got dumb IMO. Fortuntely for them lots of people liked them and they made money. LOL That's just the way it goes. In the meantime there's lots of other films I can watch. If one film is a dissapointment it doesn't make me mad just...dissapointed. I honestly have no fear at all with Iron Man or Hulk. FF2 has had me nervous from day one but all the trailers look great. Screw the negativity.

That's certainly an admirable way of looking at such projects like these. Can't say i disagree with you at all.

Screw the negativity.

Sound advice.

Yet another great actor joining The Hulk...

Norton, Tyler, Roth and now Hurt? This movie must have one hell of a script or SOMETHING.

Dare I say....I'm hyped?

I like William Hurt, but this is a total miscast. The one thing they got right in the last attempt, was Sam Elliot, who nailed Thunderbolt to a T, no pun intended.

Elliot was great but Hurt is not miscast IMO.

I'll have to see it to believe. It's hard to shake off the image of Sam Elliot.
