windows taskbar question

how do I stop my programmes from loading up at the windows taskbar as it seems to be slowing down my pc

usually you right click on the program and go into its options and click the do not start at start up.

Im running XP

Log in as administrator, then go to Start -> Run and type the following:

%SystemRoot%\pchealth\helpctr\binaries\msconfig

Go to Start Up tab and uncheck unnecessary applications you wish to remove from Windows startup.
