The sun may have shined outside Comic-Con International: San Diego Saturday afternoon, but inside Room 9 at the “Twenty-one Years of Top Cow” panel it got dark. The California-based publisher just announced that the long-gestating movie adaptation of The Darkness is back on track with a script that sees none other than Sara Pezzini, the Witchblade, chasing the titular star Jackie Estacado. The Darkness feature film is being developed by New Regency, Mandeville and director Len Wiseman’s Sketch Films.

Hope this actually goes through and is good.

I'm actually playing the Darkness 2 game right now. I remember when both this and Witchblade first came out how it would be a cool movie. Then they did the Witchblade television series which I never saw since I was working and got cancelled because Yancy Butler was drunk on the set one too many times.

The technology and graphics are up to a point where they can do this more believably too, and it's the age of comic book movies so it won't get completely trashed.

They better move along. Otherwise, it's just empty talk for a 'vaporware' movie stuck in Dev Hell.

Honestly I could see myself more hyped for this than WF... If it ever goes to filming and they cast the film right.

What's WF?

Anyway, the reason why I'm rooting for this is because it's DIFFERENT. Sure it's a comic book adaptation but it's not about a superhero. It feels fresh.

Call me whatever you wish, but I pretty much don't have any idea what either of these two franchises are. I'm sure I could look them up, but I'll end up stuck on Wikipedia all night again. :D

Hopefully they don't hire a drunk like last time.

Vanessa Ferlito for Sara Pezzini

and
Joseph Gordon Levitt for Jackie Estacado

Kat Dennings as Sara Pezzini and Jason Momoa as Jackie Estacado.

Something that occured to me is this should be in the Misc Comics forum since it is based on comic books.

Kat Dennings as Sara Pezzini and Jason Momoa as Jackie Estacado.

From what I can tell of her, you'd have trouble designing a costume that can contain her while keeping the film at a PG-13 rating, or even an R-rating. :hehe:

If they are going to skew a bit younger for Sara I think Marie Avgerpoulos would be good also
