Superman Returns With SUPERMAN RETURNS approaching, is anyone writing a Superman script?

i wrote a summary of how i would make the sequel to THE DONNER MOVIES I THINK I POSTED IT OUT HERE SOME WHERE now if i can only find it (bare in mind I'm a huge fan of JJ's Alias so you see a lot of his themes in it )

Doing a search right now.

I am currently writing a clone Superboy script with my story as Luthor and Star Labs are trying to recreate Superman and program him to destroy the actual Superman. But during the process when he is at about the age 16 mark Luthor fires one of the key creators over a disagreement with the clones use. So he sets the clone 3 and gives him some clothes "A superman logo T-Shirt and some jeans etc, yes I'm using the new look Superboy). They then try to escape Star Labs and I'm going to have a head security guy who has some kryptonite take on Superboy before he can escape the lab.

here it is I KNOWN THIS GOING TO SOUND CRAZY. BUT HEAR ME OUT. and please if ya have any suggestions and feeback post them below

Flashes of the events surrounding Superman 2 - destruction of mount Rushmore - white house by the kryptonian villains - Superman fighting with the 3 villains defecting them -
Flashes of anti- alien protestors who claim that Superman is the cause for our doom - "it enough that we have beings on our own planet endorsing terror now thanks to Superman we have aliens from other worlds terrorizing our planet. Superman go home good superman dead Superman. Camera zooms out and the images are displayed on a huge plasma screen we are in the fortress of solitude we see Superman's back facing us he falls and starts to weep "Sorry father forgive me " he then removes the cape (his face is still not shown to us) and throws it on the floor " Never Again" Camera zooms in on the Red cape with the <S> logo.

(Screen fades black)

6 yrs later

Lex Jr runs for President he's the youngest presidential candidate ever he puts on a public face in order to hide away from his father's criminal image. Lex Jr after almost dominating the business world is all set to enter the political arena. His company Lex Corp is at an all time high especially with the eagerly waited defense system the Lex-o- suit all set to debut one month before the election. (Clips of campaign adds Vote for Lex " My opponent cut back the war funding. He's responsible for the deaths of several young men. He sent them to war without proper arms and ammunitions. What does he have to say to the families of those brave young men." Another add "My company is one of the best on the planet when it comes to technology and i can say without a doubt that with the lex- o - suite on our side our men can return safely back to their families." (Opponents campaign add "Lex Luthor was hell bent on world domination, he team up with aliens to rule over this world, he responsible for the deaths of several men and women across the globe, he's even said to be the reason why Superman is no more. This election Don't vote for Lex Jr since the old saying never fades like the father like the son.)

Original Lex (GENE HACKMAN) still in prison was arrested for attempted genocide of half of California, escaping prison and assisting the Kryptonian villains and is now the most sued person in the history of the planet. (He's no longer the Goofy Lex we all remember.)

Supes is gone spends time with Jor - el in the FOS learns even more about himself aspects such as the red kryptonite reactions haunts him every night which is why he's feels that he's the greatest Liability this planet has. The monster he knows best and is most concerned about with is the monster he feels or fears himself to be.. Hence Clark Kent M.I.A considered dead by most of the Daily planet Staff.

Lois still has hope still thinks he's alive that he'll return some day spends most of her weekends with Martha Kent who doesn't seems to be doing well. Lana (who is now settled down and has a son name Clark) and Lois admit her to the hospital where in before dying she tells them the truth about CK "go north." Lois head towards the F.O.S. mean while back in the Prison Lex and his Son have a big private conversation (lex JR has a some influence) we come to known that the Kryptonians got the death penalty and no longer exist and since Lex assisted them he too is going to end up like them in a few weeks. Lex wants his son to save him tells him about hidden bunkers under the city these bunkers have power not wealth or money but true power i.e. secrets which would make not only the folks in the white house bow down to him but also the big powers of the international world as well." Lex my son, i give you the power to fulfill your dream all i ask in return is for you to let me live. Let me live and see our dream come true." Lex jr blast at his father " look at you old man weak pathetic you want to live your life? What life have you given me beside a worne out Lex Corp., which was bankrupt. I had to slog day in and day out for it to make a 180 and reach the status it has today. No matter what I do no matter how hard i try these people always see you. You ruined my childhood every time kids would beat me up because of your stupid selfish acts of world domination flashing all over the front page. You've taken everything away from me you wont even tell me who my mother was. Who was she Dad? You and i both known my birth records are fake I've gone half way around the world in search for her and every time the trail comes back here, in this place. You. i mean it when I say this I really don't known who I am." Lex jr about to leave the place when his father screams out to him "Save me and I'll tell you who you are"

Lois is closing in on the f.o.s. Where she come face to face with a polar bear (HAHHAH JON PETER would be smiling) but in a flash a couple of local Eskimos hush away the polar bear and rescues Lois. Lois heads with the locals to their village/camp she keep asking about Clark Kent every show his photo no answer. As she sits a bearded man who's upper face is covered speaks to her (think about the first time you saw Aragon in LOTR) "this man you seek is he a family member gone missing" Lois hands out the photo "his name is Clark Kent have you seen him? His mother past away a few weeks ago. Have you seen him? I'm confident that he's here Clark always like places like this it reminded him of home he'd say." Bearded man "his mother passed away? " (Whispers something) Lois "excuse me i didn't quiet get you." Bearded man "you must leave and go back the man your searching for froze to death a few months back. He passed away while saving a kid " Lois shocked falls to her knees and cries "no this cant be this cant be possible" Bearded man helps Lois and carries her bag as she boards the ship. Lois is still crying and thanks the man for being so kind to her. The man nods his head says " I'm sorry for you loss miss Lois" and walks away from the departing ship. As the ship sets sail Lois realizes that she didn't introduce her self as Lois and yet the man addressed her as Lois. She yells out Clark the breaded man who's back is turned from the ship pauses and then continues, she then tells the captain to stop the ship and turn back that captain says he cant do that - Lois jumps over board into the freezing water - the bearded man hears the splash and the cries for help turns around and sees Lois struggling - he removes his jacket and spins and drills into the ice (Homage to the first movie Lois is about to drown when to hands appear beneath her and lifts her up and heads towards the shore. The local rush in immediately cover her shivering body she's still a bit conscious looks at the bearded man and says "I knew I would find you I knew I would find you Clark Kent" she faints.

Back at Metropolis Lex'-o- suit is launched [OK TO MAKE THINGS SHORT IT THE SAME STUFF THAT HAPPENS IN TAS YEAH THE WHOLE CORBEN STEALING THE LEX-O-SUIT Except this time the press see it as an assassination attempt] News reporter: Recent poll indicate that Lex is at an all time high does today's assassination attempt have anything to do with it our panel of experts discuses. Lex switches of the TV well played Corben "here you money and fake passports" "its been a pleasure working with you Mr Luthor. "Remember the deal don't you?" "Yeah i terrorize the city you show up with your Enhanced Lex-o-suit and become SUPER-MAN " "Please I really don't like to hear that aliens name what this world needs is a hero to look up to and I am going to be that man."

Back in the F.O.S lois wakes up hears Clark speak to a local old lady (some local language) she hands him a lunch box with different local food inside he gestures thanks in the local way. Lois heads over to Clark cries hugs him and says " I hope this is not a dream Clark I want this to be real I want you to exist" Clark tells her to rest and feds her the stuff handed over by the local old lady. As Clark Shaves Lois keeps asking why he abandoned them the world and her. He says it was the best thing to do since its a never ending job being Superman the bad guy never stop they always use the people i care about most as bait. Lois takes a tour of f.o.s. She asks him if he misses the city since he's isolated from the outside world. He tells her the local respect him a lot consider him as a member of their family which is why they protect both him and the f.o.s. Lois then talks about his mother he now cries and says "its the same thing all over again with all those powers i had all those things i could do I couldn't save them. I'm a disgrace to them both" Lois " no your not your mother was proud of both Superman and the man behind him, she raise you up and was proud of how you helped the world you were her hero that's the way she remembers you that's the way most of humanity remembers you Clark." Clark tells her he's aware (shows her several screens with channels from all around the world HEY THE F.O.S. IS HIGH TECH SO I'LL BET ITS HAS HIGH DEFINITION TV) its ironic since he cares about these people so much that he wants to protect them for everything but the hardest thing for anyone to do is protect them from oneself. That's the reason why he gave up the suit he consider himself to be a ticking time bomb. (Just then all the channels around the world show the same image people running left right and center as this huge feet shatters the ground and destroys everything in its path) Lois looks at Clark "that the lex-o-suit I'm sure Lex Jr is behind it. Aren't you going to do anything about it?" Clark looks back at Lois " its unfair to Judge him by what his father did besides im sure the military can handle it. " Just then we see the claws of the Lex-o-suit crushing a Comandche and smashing a Humvee Lois looks at Clark "You were saying?" Clark "Lois it not my battle I was Superman I'm not him anymore" Lois accidentally slips and bangs one of Jor-el recorded crystals jor-el face appears and the says " THE WORLD NEED YOU MY SON." Clark Looks at Lois and says "Wait here " Clark enter into a chamber and within a sec come out dress as Superman.

Lex jr sits in his office and watches the destruction of Metropolis Lex jr " woo there goes Drump Tower always hated that guy. Looks at his watch it show time." Lex enter a secret level of Lex towers and beings suiting up the enhanced Lex-o- suit as he stares at the TV news reporter " I'm standing at the mertroplois square as you can see the huge chaos and destruction cause by the terrorist who stole the Lex-o-suit a few days ago so far the army seems to be squatted like flies in front of this machine. Whoa do you hear that? (A low whoosh sound) is it a plane? (Camera man turns towards the sound) is it a missile? (Camera man zoom in) its ... its Superman." Lex jr shocked "what the .."

(Huge scene with Lex-o-suit and Superman fighting it out juts like in TAS) Lois sees that whole thing in the F.o.s. Lex just can't understand what just happened. Superman wins Corben's in Jail. Confesses that Lex Jr was behind the whole thing however Lex jr gets away using is now obtained power GET IT? News Paper headlines from all around the world hailing 'Superman Returns' (another homage to the Donner movies). Lois returns back to Smallville packing her bags since she's heading for Metropolis. They both stand on the Kent Farm she wants Clark to come back with her but understands that it could be risky. Since anyone could connect Clark Return with Superman return and expose the truth. However Clark promises he will be back some day. With this the Camera zooms out (just like in the first movie except that it Clark Kent and Lois instead of CK and mom on the field)

Back in Metropolis prison Lex Sr gets his last wishes fulfilled he wants to speak to his son before dying by lethal injection. With the election results just hrs away from being declared Lex Jr make a quick decision to see his father. As they both sit in the cell Lex sr whispers into his ears tells him the truth about who Lex Jr really is. The prison guards escort Lex Sr to the execution chamber. Lex Jr sits there shocked almost frozen you could say by what his father told him just then Lex Jr is told that he won the election he is now the youngest president in the world he quickly get up to his feet and heads into his car as this goes on we see Lex Sr on the Death bed with Needles injected into his veins.- dies - lex get out of his Limo and there a huge crowd in front of him (THINK IN TERMS OF THE VICTORY PARTY HELD BY THE WINNERS OF THE ELECTION) he stands on the platform, mouth Rushmore in the back ground behind him and starts his speech " Like the fore father behind me I too have a dream I too .. (We zoom in slowly towards the mountain we see a cape figure standing - clips of Lex waving out to crowd) Lex " It is time for a change." Superman looks at the stars and whispers, " it is time for a change" We see Superman Fly off as Lex Jr looks at him fly before heading into his limo. Lex jr sits and reflects at what Lex Sr told him (insert scene Lex Sr "congratulations I knew you wouldn't save me, if I were in your place I'd do the same " Lex jr "lets cut the chit chat what did you want to tell me" Lex "you want to known the truth right? You can't handle the truth. The truth is I'm not father you are not my son. You are me from head to toe each and every molecule in your body is me ." Lex jr " Stop speaking in riddles" Lex Leans over and whispers into Lex jr's ears " you are my clone." Lex jr Shocked . Lex Sr " As I said before we share the same dream got out and fulfill our dream Lex."

Lex now in the limo looks out the window and sees the white house.

Anyone have any idea why the scripts were taken off of bluetights.net?

I need a talented writer to help me with an Ultimate Superman script.

This script will be written as the first issue, and I'll select 5 pages to illustrate and pitch to DC.

Anyone up to it message me on AIM at seiferrn.

Why try and pitch it to DC, they wont take any notice unless you get yourself an agent - also having only justdone a restart with birthright i cant imagine they would want another new version of Superman - Would be cool to see what you come up with though, would make an interesting read

Hey guys I am currently doing a fix up of the Superman Lives script by Kevin Smith and could use some help. I am going to definatly take out the Polar Bears and the Giant Spiders, etc but could use some help knowing what other peoples problems were?

I have noticed that most of the dialogue is crap and am currently doing a 1st fix up which i will then follow up with a second. I have mde a few changes Brainiac is now a mechanoid and Misty is now Mercy. Just wanted to ask a few questions on peoples thoughts n stuff:

1) What were some of the other problems in the script except for the Polar Bears, dialogue and Giant Spiders?
2) What is the wertham act?
3) Who is this L-Ron and was he one of the problems? (I find he kind of helps in the bits with Brainiac so that there is dialogue)

I know some peple are gonn athink I'm stupid for trying to patch up this script but I think there is some decent stuff in there aside from the dialogue the scenes with deadshot aren't too bad. I just want some help so hopefully I can fix the script and make it worth reading. :D

The main problem with S:Lives is that is another superhero script. Superman is larger than that. He is a worldwide saviour sent here to inspire hope. Smith’s script is filled with plot less angst, and comic book clichés. Watch the first 45 minuets of Superman: the move. If you write a Superman that fits that universe, with the grand myth integrated through the story, with inspirations oh hope given from this Christ-like force and get away from the comic book Superman telling pointless stories we know the ending to, then you will have something that works. Superman stays in costume, he HAS powers, he NEVER gives up. It is beyond Superman to do the wrong thing. If you can make the audience believe that, then they will feel sorry for him when you take the story to a point where you know that doing the right thing will only succeed to hurt him. Some of the best Superman stories are written with a great sense of sympathy towards Superman, we can feel it for him because he would never dare be selfish enough to feel it for himself.

I think that Wertham act was something that outlawed vigilantes or something. Cant remember though.

L-Ron was in the script because Jon Peters saw Star Wars and after seeing C3PO, he though Superman should have a gay robot in his universe. L-Ron is useless. Replace him with something sinister.

If you need any help, I can outline how I think Superman works best.

I wrote a sequel treatment (not a script) several years ago to Superman 2 that started with Clark Kent and Lois Lane trapped in a bank vault because of Clark's klutsiness. The vault goes on a time release mechanism and they are stuck in the vault until morning, roughly 10 hours until the manager arrives and opens the vault. A lot of witty banter ensues with Lois blaming Clark and Clark being sweet to Lois. Clark talks about his happy childhood in Smallville. He really misses his dad. He speaks about how his dad died in his arms and how powerless he felt. Lois talks about her rough childhood, moving around alot, she was an army brat and doesn't have many real friends. She never felt like she had a home. We really get to see some genuine human moments between the two star-crossed lovers. Lois begins to realize how important Clark is to her. Clark is obviously head over heels with her. Meanwhile all hell breaks lose when a new villain with similar powers to Superman arrives in Metropolis. He's been tracking a kryptonian heartbeat from the outer reaches of space. The villain is Braniac. He begins tearing Metropolis apart when the kryptonian heartbeat suddenly goes silent. Don't forget, supes is trapped in, of course, a lead-lined vault. Braniac proceeds to cause as much havoc and destruction in order to call out the kryptonian, whom he believes is in hiding. Because of the chaos in downtown Metropolis, the bank in which Clark and lois are trapped doesn't open that day (everyone is warned to saty out of downtown Metropolis). Thus, Clark and Lois are trapped for longer than 10 hours. Because the vault is vacuum sealed, they begin to run out of air. Clark must choose between seeing Lois die or divulging his heroic identity. The choice is easy. Lois is losing consciousness when Clark finally decides to rip open his shirt. But the bank door rips open right before Clark reveals his identity. Instead, a group of crminals taking advantage of the chaos caused by Braniac decide to rip off the bank. Lois faints. Supes springs into action stops the burglars and exits the bank with an unconscious Lois in his arms only to see Metropolis in ruins. Think the crumbling cityscapes witnessed briefly in CONSTANTINE (keanu's cool flick). Sunny Metropolis looks like dark Gotham. Buildings are smoldering. People are dead in the streets. Cars wrecked. Superman is devastated. How could this have happened in such a short time?

Meanwhile, Lex is in jail. He escapes, complicating things further. Lex heads to the fortress of solitude in an attempt to learn more about Superman. Instead, Lex discovers the ghost or essence of General Zod at the fortress. Zod's ghost posseses Lex Luthor and endows him with incredible powers. Super Luthor returns to Metropolis with the goal of killing Superman. Instead Braniac believes Super Luthor is the last Kryptonian. Thus, Luthor proceeds to get his ass kicked by Braniac. Superman arrives and a massive battle ensues in which Supes and Luthor are forced to team up to destroy Braniac.

Braniac's backstory is that he and the rest of the kryptonians knew that by going to earth, kryptonians would become powerful Gods. Braniac advocated invading earth and taking it over. The Krypton council were a peaceful people and enacted a law forebidding kryptonians from going to earth. Braniac attempted to escape krypton in a stolen ship and head to earth. The ship was shot out of the sky by Jor-el. But Braniac escaped in an escape pod. But the pod froze in deep space and was lost in space for several years. He finally crash landed on an alien planet, consructed a new ship and headed to earth to destroy the son of the man who shot him down--jor-el.

Anyway, in the end Luthor with Superman's help (because he is human and not kryptonian, Lex is immune to Kryptonite) uses kryptonite to destroy Braniac. We think that a truce has finally occured between Supes and Luthor but of course once the threath of Braniac is over, Luthor viciously turns on Superman. You can never trust Luthor. Superman, heavily battle scarred, retreats to the fortress of solitude. Luthor follows. A final battle ensues amid the arctic mountains. Superman emerges from the fortress wearing an armored lead-coated endoskeleton suit. A massive battle ensues and Superman finally pounds Luthor into submission. In the end Superman places Luthor in the molecule chamber and the essence of Zod is forever vanquished.

The final scene has Lois frantically searching for Clark in ravaged downtown Metropolis. She thinks that he was killed in the destructive battle of Metropolis. Clark shows up with torn and tattered clothing. Lois jumps into his arms and professes her love for Clark not Superman.

It was simply called Superman III

The end.

Wow mate thanks. Can you do that for me? Thanks I want to keep some of the stuff though but that would be great. thanks. :D

Thanks Norminator.

I'm glad you liked my Superman III treatment. The Super Luthor was conceived with idea of giving Luthor the same powers and abilities as Superman for a day. Sort like an evil doppelganger for the big blue bird. I also wanted Lex and Supes to team up to defeat a greater foe. It was fun writing it.

It was written way back. More as a personal exercise. I've since moved on to other projects. Personal projects. Besides writting a comic book script is useless unless you hold the rights to the character or have been hired by a studio or big named producer...you won't get paid and you might get sued:)

I've just started with a Superman origin script, my plan is to use Metallo and Lex Luthor. And also: 20 pages on Krypton, 20 pages in Smallville, and 100 pages in Metropolis.

Hey I am writing a script about the early days of Superman. Its takes a few days after his appearance and the villains are Luthor and Braniac.

Branica destroyed Krypton and Jor-El sent him to Earth to stop Braniac from destroyinh it also cause he sort of "feeds' of planets.

Also Clark does not learn of his Krypton Origin until later in the film and Luthor uses it against him and the people fear Superman becaue he is an alien.

Aybody give me any ideas would be aprreciated!

Thankz!

That's a good, getting some heavy characterisation in straight away is a nice way to go, and you've got an effective way of doing it. I also liked the way you used the Lex/Supes dynamic - Lex will defend earth and work with Supes if he has to, but at the end of the day (and the film), he is Supes' arch enemy.

'A masssive battle ensues' - all superhero movie scripts should have that line atleast twice. ;)

Absolutely.

Also, don't attempt to many scenes of superpowered battles; the excitement from Superman comes from him rescuing others in jeopardy, not fighting supervillains ala Spidey and Bats.

Ive been writing a Superman story in book format for awhile now, and will post it when finished.

As of right now its titled Superman: Adopted Hero but that will probably change.

If I wrote a script I'd want to write a story like Alex Ross' and Paul Dini's Peace on Earth. Not only would the story speak out to what's going on in the world but it would have a strong say about what's wrong with it in terms of how greed and selfishness has become the most important things, and how Superman wishes to change it. In the end he can't change it but it leaves you with the message that's in Peace on Earth, "When I once again feel the warm Spring wind in my hair, I make it a point to take my own advice. Patiently and gently, I share with others the way to scatter the seeds a few at a time, evenly between the rows so that each one will have enough space. I tell them not every seed will make it- but all of them deserve the chance to grow." He lives as an example to people because you can't change the world as a whole but you can change it one person at a time by leading by example! which he always does and that's why he's so great! :D

I've had a ton of idea's and now that superman is approaching I'd love to try and write a script, just to see how accurate it would be along side the real thing/movie.. But in shorts, how do you set up a script anyway?

Years ago, I started pitching this idea of what would happened if an ordinary man from our world woke up next morning to find out he has powers identical to Superman. Well, sans x-ray vision and heat vision so that would make him more like Captain Marvel, but you get the idea. Anylame, I wanted to write how would the real world react to a being with god-like powers. Once I had most of the ideas and outline figured out and started writing the script, next thing you know, Busiek's Secret Identity gets published. I figured, screw it.

I wrote a script based on "whatever happened to the man of tomorrow" a while back... my friends and i are considering shooting it this summer (at least, some of it-- maybe enough for a trailer...)
EDIT:I'm also working on one influenced by the several "return to krypton" stories over the years...

This is definately my kind of thread...the reason I am have now joined these forums and even found out about Superman Returns, was during my research for a Batman vs Superman script.

I have written a treatment for Batman vs Superman that revolves around the World's Finest Graphic Novel as well as the Death of Superman storyline. It is almost impossible to get in with DC or WB without an agent, which I do have, but most they are looking for an established writer (Goyer, Harirs, Dougherty). I have written several scripts but always wanted to tackle a Superman storyline. I figured what better way than to take on Batman vs Superman.

The good thing about writing any script is that even if a studio doesn't buy it it gives them an idea of your writing skills within that genre. So say one of you writes a really tight Superman script and the studio likes the style but not the Superman story, there is always a chance you can get hired to write one of the lesser DC heroes. This providing you have an agent in the first place.

When I am finished with this script; which I am going to see through, either for consideration for the story itself or a showcase of my knowledge of writing a so called comic book movie, I will post in here for criticism and comments.

While I'm all for adaption, doesn't anyone ever write a script that isn't "based" on a given storyline? I mean, do a JJ Abrams and go wild!

I wrote a Superman script for my screenwriting class last semester. .............................

I think my favorite part was how I tweeked Jimmy. I made Jimmy sort of the ultimate fanboy. Geek band T-shirts, always trying to hit on ladies so far out of his league.

..................

I like your take on Jimmy a lot. This is how He SHOULD be written. He's boring if you just make him another adult. My concept of Jimmy would make him a skateboarder with an Ipod going all the time. He would have great computer skills and border on being a Hacker. And, though some people here hated it, I liked it a lot on L&C when Jimmy would call Clark 'CK'. It's what a kid like that would do. He'd have his own names for everyone. That would be right in line with why he would call Perry 'Chief'.

Oh, and the Bow Tie would definitely HAVE TO GO!

When Jimmy was created back in the 40's, bow ties were common to teenagers. It isn't anymore and is just a cliche now. The Geek band t-shirts are a perfect touch. Maybe even have him wear it over a long sleeve T. He'd wear Luggs instead of shoes. He'd have a state of the art digital camera around his neck most of the time.
