The E3 2018-announced Wolfenstein: Youngblood will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC on July 26, publisher Bethesda Softworks and developer Machine Games announced.

The game will be available in standard and Deluxe editions. The standard Edition is only available as a digital download across Europe, Australia & New Zealand. The Deluxe Edition incldues the “Buddy Pass,” allowing you and a friend to play the entire game together (even if they do not own the game themselves) and the “The Cyborg Skin Pack” add-on. Pre-orders for either edition include the “Legacy Pack” add-on, which unlocks outfits and weapons used by BJ Blazkowicz.

Here is an overview of the game, via its official website:

Paris, 1980

BJ Blazkowicz, hero of the second American Revolution, is missing. Nineteen years after the events of Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, BJ has disappeared after a mission into Nazi-occupied Paris. Now, after years of training and guidance from their battle-hardened father, BJ’s twin daughters Jess and Soph are forced into action. Team up with a new cast of freedom fighters and brave the unsettling sights and sounds of twisted, alternate reality 1980s Paris.

Murder, She Wrote

Team up with a friend or play alone with an AI companion in the first modern co-op Wolfenstein adventure. Perform new tag team maneuvers, crank up the voltage with the devastatingly powerful new co-op weapon, the Tesla Gun, and show off your flair with skins and emotes.

Escape from Paris

Wolfenstein: Youngblood features the most open-ended Wolfensteinexperience to date. From a new base of operations located deep in the heart of the Paris catacombs, plan how and when to attack and dismantle the Nazi regime.

Sweatin’ to the 80s

The wonder years, these are not. Featuring harrowing takes on iconic Parisian landmarks to graffiti-tagged streets, leather-clad Nazis, and an all-new soundtrack inspired by the synth heavy tones of classic 80s action films.

Lock and Load

Wield the latest advancements in power armor tech, weaponry, and armor to stamp out Nazi scum. Level up, explore, and complete missions to unlock new abilities, weapon attachments, gadgets, cosmetics, and more to complement your playstyle.

Last week there were some retailers listing Bethesda's Wolfenstein: Youngblood and revealing that the Nintendo Switch version would be getting a physical release, but there was one problem: the physical release would not be including a game card.

This is not something new for Nintendo Switch physical releases, especially games like the Mega Man Legacy Collection 1&2, Bayonetta 1&2, and Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1&2 — providing players with just one card for the first game and a download code for the second one; a practice that players aren't very fond of.

Since the sources were retailers, we didn't quite know if it may have been a mistake by said retailers — as Bethesda had yet to officially confirm that this was, indeed, the case for Nintendo Switch versions of the game.

As it turns out, the physical release for Wolfenstein: Youngblood on the Nintendo Switch will not be including a game card. The information was revealed by Bethesda on their Spanish Twitter account, where they confirmed that players will get a download code inside the game's box and no game card.

This is very disappointing, but it is likely that Wolfenstein: Youngblood is simply too big for the Nintendo Switch game card. At least they are giving players the choice to get a physical box for those who simply want to collect games and their boxes, but this is disappointing news for Nintendo Switch owners.

Have to say it again but I am really impressed with Nintendo getting these games for switch on day 1. Like they’ve made a huge comeback let’s see if they can keep it going on the next system.

Hmmm doesn’t seem to be getting great reviews

From what I have read it is more of an expansion pack than a unique game in itself and reuses a lot of previous Wolfenstein material. I actually haven't played any of the previous games yet but I intend to get all of them and play through back to back through Youngblood so it may or may not grow tiring after so recently playing the older games.

So far it's more of what I enjoyed about the previous games with more open ended level design. The Wolfenstein reboot series is actually my personal favorite shooter series of this last few years. It's a stand alone expansion just like the Old Blood so gauge your expectations accordingly.

Thank you that’s very helpful. I loved old blood but if young blood is like that I might just wait a tad for the price to come down.

I agree it’s one of the best gaming series. The remake didn’t even need to go off the way it did and be as good as it is in order to be amazing but boy did it

I wanted to get this day one, but I think I'll wait until Black Friday or some other sale.

Edit: I've been watching some play through and reviews and I've changed my mind. I'm only going to play this if it shows up on gamepass. The unnecessary RPG elements, the extremely obnoxious main characters, the unnecessary open world format, and the buddy system are big turnoffs. It seems Bethesda is well on their way to doing to Wolfenstein what EA did to Dead Space.
