Also, it was more of a throwback design to Henry Hulls Werewolf of London than Chaneys Wolf Man.

I can definitely see the similarities.

That second picture is an animatronic of Nicholson, right?

Yup, the ones built by Amalgamated Dynamics/ Winston studios.

The first animatronic head I ever built was based on the Wolf-style "wide Jaws" head.

What do you mean "Wolf-style "wide Jaws" head"?
What is that?

I have a lot of love for Rintoul's look in Legend of the Werewolf. Similiar in style to Reed's makeup in Curse of the Werewolf, granted, only I found it looked a lot more feral and frightening.

remember how the mouths opened really really wide in Wolf when the Jack and Spader Lycanthropes we're fighting (like actual canine jaws)? Like that, but it looked more like a vampire (according to others) because i didn't go too nut's with the hair.

Geez! Legend of the Werewolf! I'd forgotten all about that movie. That's a pretty forgotten title. The movie has a decent story and Peter Cushing was pretty good in it too.
The werewolf is indeed very much in the style of Reed's Curse. Probably inspired by it.

I cannot wait to see the Wolfman after seeing the trailer!

That's amazing that you know how to make that! My brother, when we were growing up, used to know how to do incredible monster make-up and masks.
We used to have the best and the scariest Halloween costumes in town.
Those days are gone...
Man, sometimes I hate growing up. :csad:

It also provided [to me at least] the pretty damn iconic image of the werewolf wading through the darkly lit sewers looking for prey, with his shadow silouetted against the sewer wall.

Awesome.

Also, I know they basically mean the same (although the name could be used to distinguish between a bi-ped and quadruped wolf 'being' I guess) but is there any one else out there who shares the view that 'Werewolf' just sounds so much scarier than 'Wolfman' (or 'the Wolfman'? I've always thought so to be honest.

I dunno, I realise it's a purely cosmetic thing and really doesnt mean a jot, but still - just wondering.......................

Just ordered that baby on ebay!

I have an okay collection of werewolf movies, definitely not enough, but would like to get all one day.
"Legend of the Werewolf" was a movie I always remembered from childhood, and especially from the classic horror magazines my brother collected.
Last time I ever saw it was on TV really late one night (in the mid-eighties) on a show called "Night Flight". They would show all kinds of bizarre movies and rare music videos etc. Anyway, I just never forgot it, and always tried to keep an eye out for it but never got lucky. Eventually, time passed and it slipped from memory.
Suddenly you bring it up, and I just went nuts and had to look for it. Found it on ebay. Can't wait to get it. So thanks!

Oh, and no doubt, werewolves are scarier than wolf men, but wolf men are more identifiable, because of their more human look. And, I just think wolf men are cooler. Ha!
I absolutely feel the look they came up with for this new WOLF MAN movie might be my favorite so far.

Have you seen the 12 inch cloth doll of the new Wolf Man? It's incredible.
Look for the one with the blood spattered shirt. It's vicious.
I think there are pics of it in earlier pages of this thread.
I'll be picking that sucker up for sure...

Anybody ordering the Wolf Man 12" inch deluxe action figure? It's amazing looking.
I've looked at several sites, and all have conflicting release dates.

I think it would be pretty cool too get, not quite sure I will yet though.

I think we'll see the first poster for The Wolfman surface shortly. Why?

Yesterday I took an online poll about upcoming movies. Surprise, surprise -- they polled me on which The Wolfman poster is the most best. Here's a brief description of each poster (5 in all):

1. Traditional horror movie poster with Photoshopped floating heads (del Toro, Blunt, Weaving, Hopkins) suspended over a moonlit background silhouetting the werewolf prowling the woods. The tagline and cast/crew listing were at the bottom of the poster.
2. A black-and-white perspective of the shot from the end of the trailer, where a dirty Emily Blunt is pressed up against a tree as the werewolf slowly approaches (del Toro's creature is at the left of the poster while Blunt and the tree dominate the right side). Again, both the title, tagline and cast/crew listing is at the bottom.
3. A unique perspective featuring del Toro's face and jaw in three stages of the werewolf transformation.
4. The background of the first poster is the focus of this poster, featuring the silhouette profile of the wolfman in the woods.
5. Another variation of poster #5.

And the initial tagline for the movie is: "When the moon is full, a legend will rise." (Personally I thought poster #2 was the most interesting.)

Number 2 does sound the coolest. I hate the standard BS movie posters with the floating heads.

I like the idea of number 1 : the Traditional horror movie poster with the floating heads.

I saw some giant versions of those when I was at Universal Studios.

This movie is looking better everytime I see something;

I'm gonna go agaisnt the naysayers and say this will be awesome.

wooow how original. they started the trailer with the moon and a similar music like the underworld 3 trailer.

Now can we bring back Teen Wolf?
