I came onto this site and realized just how many people hate Wolverine. Being an avid reader of comics, I was quite surprised because Wolverine's almost always been my favourite. he was always evolving and his mysterious past just made him that much more interesting. Then i started to pick up new Wolverine's. Alot of which sucked and I began to hate him. And then I forgave him, and instead decided to hate the writer's. He's mysterious past revealed, they began to devolve the character to the point that he was just a husk of what he was before. I read stuff from the eighties and I think "How did he go from being considered the most skilled and deadly fighter on the planet, but with honor and compassion, and only using his claws when necessary, to a roughneck thug who basically fought everything on two legs.

I'm making this thread for everyone to bash, praise, salute, abandon, and any other positive or negative verb you can think of, my favourite character. Why? Because i want to hear why...I want to know why everyone dislikes the character as much as I now dislike the Hulk... i'm not going to even talk alot, I'm just gonna read it all. i hope this starts up for at leats a bit, for my sake.

Gambit was always cooler than Wolverine, and got more p**sy to boot...I do like Wolverine: Origins though...I'm so sick of the "history shrouded in mystery" thing that it would seem the only thing that makes me interested in him at all is finally revealing some of that past

Gambit wasn't even as cool as Jubilee.

It's not that we hate Wolverine. It's just that we're sick of seeing him EVERYWHERE.

At one point he was on Astonishing X-Men, Uncanny X-Men, New Avengers, Ultimate X-Men, and his own solo title, Wolverine.

They may have taken him off Uncanny X-Men, but they made it worse by giving him another solo title, Wolverine: Origns, that sucks ass. Wolverine doesn't deserve two solo titles.

Wolverine is a great character, but he just got completely overly ****ed out.

Cool character,just overused.

You have no room to speak, boyo.

Agreed.

As for Wolverine, I think GNR said it best, he's not really hated so much as he is overused. Also like the Hulk he has a cultish following of fanboys that think he is beyond invincible.

Say what you will about Bendis but when Hawkeye put an arrow through the base of Wolvie's neck in House of M and it knocked him out and took him a few minutes to wake up, I was overjoyed.

Healing Factor does not equal Unkillable, regenerating from a skeleton, super being.

So ultimately its not Wolvie who's the problem. Its how some people perceive him.

I think Wolverine was good before, but now he's infallible, and I can't take it... I think that's bad writing...

i stilllike wolverine alot...yeah he is overused...but so are batman and superman in DC really.

i mean spidey got craploads of comics and guest stars everywhere but not many moan about him....

wolverine is cool...leave him to his own series and EITHER avengers OR the x-men.

that'd be cool....maybe another series like about his paqst and stuff, spidey has plenty of sereieses...spectacular,amazing,freindly neighbourhood etc etc including avengers and the guest spots..

i think the best character who doesnt get enough exposure (besides union jack!!) is captain america...

I agree Cap should get a 2nd book..and not that S.O.L crap a few years back.

I still think Enemy of the State was one of the most entertaining Wolvie stories.

Yeah right.

I still like the guy, he is overused though, but it wouldn't matter much if the books he's in were actually good. Origins is horribly paced, mediocre art, and laughable plot points. New Avengers, well nuff said IMO.

He's still a good character just a case of bad writing at the moment

Nah, I disagree. In my view, Marc Guggenhiem is the best thing to happen to the Wolverine title since Frank Tieri. Logan will be in good hands with Jeff Loeb and Simone Bianchi for the next 5 or 6 issues focusing on Wolverine/Sabretooth history - and a Wolverine vs Hulk fight -, and then M.G. will be returning. Its going to be a good year for Logan-fans.

Daniel Way's Origins series has been a dud so far though. Still has potential to be a good series so Im gonna hang in there for a bit longer. Not much longer though. Daniel Way has all the ingediants he needs to deliver. No reason for him to be shooting blanks with a Logan title.

Issue #10 is out this week, how long do you need exactly?

I havent read issue #9 yet and if the series doesnt improve by the end of the current arc Im going to be joining the thousands of other former subscribers..

Its not like he has ever even done anything in New Avengers. (except for the annual and the fastball special avengers style) he's just there so they can put him on the cover

Second and Thirded. Took the words right out of my mouth.

I like Wolverine. I hate the overexposure.

I still think Wolverine is a cool character, but he's become so increasingly complex, and not in the good way. His power level is up and down, as is the control of his beserker rage, and all kinds of stuff that just completely takes the character away from what he should be. The veteran X-Men rebel without a cause with a heart of gold. That's Wolverine, but they've completely messed him up these days. When he's written good though, he's a joy to read.
