Wolverine to join the MCU?

I would LOVE it if Fox let Marvel at least cameo Wolverine in one of their Avengers films just as a thank you to Hugh who showed the biggest passion, love for his comic book role that he LOVED. Not many actors show that commitment and love the way Hugh has and like a little boy he has dreamed of being part in the Avengers.

It's just him answering the question for the nth time with typical PR speak.

If an actor was asked what he thought of a movie and he hates that movie or those involved he wouldn't say that, he'd talk about how he's looking forward to it and how much he respects all those involved.

Jackman may very well want his Wolvie to mix into that universe, point is even if he doesn't he's not gonna say that as he knows he will piss off the fans who want that.

Wolverine joins MCU: Black Panther and Captain Marvel pushed back to 2025.

Why? His solo movies ain't been so hot at the box office. Wolverine + X-Men is a draw. Wolverine solo isn't so much. Honestly Marvel would likely do better with a new IP like CM or BP possibly in the vein of GotG than bet to hit big on another Wolverine movie.

Wolverine and X-Men need to stay at Fox for the foreseeable. I think even some diehard Marvel Studios fans will agree with that. They had them for 15 years with lots of investment from the general public.

The current version of X-Men wouldn't fit with the MCU and I don't think the general public is even close accepting a Wolverine that is not played by Hugh Jackman.

X-Men should return or Fox should strike a deal with Marvel when its time to reboot. Probably in another 10 years or so.

I think you overestimate the public's love of Jackman in the role. You can replace the actors playing Superman, Batman, Spider-man...Wolverine ain't any different. Maybe if his films earned a billion each then there'd be a legit argument but his movies make not even half of that. It'd be more of an argument about replacing RDJ as Iron Man and even then I'm in the camp of saying ANY actor can be replaced...even him. Though, you know...it'd be a major headache, and I'm sure replacing Jackman would be a pain as well to some extent. But BOTH are guaranteed to happen eventually.

I`m sure that eventually (and I mean many years down the line) RDJ is going to be replaced (perhaps when they reboot the entire MCU). But replacing him would be a PR nightmare for Marvel, and Jackman is his equivalent in Fox`s X-Men. He`s been Wolverine for 15 years. Look at McKellan and Stewart: while both of their roles were well recast, people still prefer the old team and clamor for them to return again and again to the role.

Jackman could come to the MCU as a continuity-free character: he reprises the role, but it is not a sequel. Like what we would be getting if JK Simmons comes back as JJJ.

That being said, I strangely do not want this to happen. I don`t think the prejudiced world of X-Men mixes well with the Superhero-supporting world of the MCU on screen. It might work on the page, but I think it doesn`t translate well to the movies.

I don't want JK Simmons back either, honestly.

I think it can work just fine but in order to do it you need to seed the universe with these ideas from the get go and obviously they haven't since there's been no chance the X-Men and mutants will join the MCU. They've even taken all these steps to replace mutants with inhumans in the MCU. Maybe after a reboot if all are under one banner/studio then yeah it can work fine like it does in the comics. But we're not there now.

I thought we all agreed the Raimiverse was more or less the 60s Lee/Ditko era version. :o Not like the end all be all version, but that was obviously what Raimi was shooting for.

The biggest issue I had was that it wasn't SET on the early 1960's. Had it been that would have cleared up a plethora of problems I had with the series.

While I really don`t like Raimiverse, he did get some things right. JJJ was one of them.

Yes, that tended to be one of the better aspects of the Raimiverse. All agreed on that. I still don't want the Raimiverse's version of JJJ in the MCU. He wouldn't fit. He needs to be less buffoonish and pure comic relief and have some more depth to him in the MCU. That's not to say swing the pendulum all the way to the other end of the spectrum and make him morose or something like that. Sure, he can add humor. I just hope that's not ALL he adds. Simmons is a great actor and I'm sure he could pull off a more nuanced character of JJJ. If they went that way with it I'd tolerate reusing him(though on principle I'm against reusing older actors in the same role...reboots should be a clean cut to avoid any confusion, IMO).

I know Jackman would be down for whatever regarding cameos/crossovers but Fox is the problem.

Fox will have to be in the position that Sony was, and since they are not bleeding money, it ain't going to happen.

pragmatically, it would probably take one or more of the future X-Men based films to "flop" or have a severely mediocre box-office (globally) for Fox execs to possibly broach any kind of future character sharing.
I want to see the following in the MCU: Wolverine, Iceman, Firestar, Storm, Nightcrawler.

I've seen Wolverine take enough screen time over other Marvel characters that I really don't care to see him take even more in a larger cinematic universe.

Boo to everyone who's had enough of Wolverine...BOOOOOOOOOO.

There can never be enough Wolverine.

I doubt he could take center stage like he does in the Avengers stories in the books. Too many large personalities.

No!

And I'm sick of Jackman's RDJ man crush. It's funny how Fox-men fans ignore it but it's borderline pathetic how badly he begs to sit at Marvels table.
