Wolverine X-MEN vanson motorcycle jacket

Well after working with vanson on developing the X3 version of this jacket (They should be finishing that up for me the end of Sept.) I've become their rep on the Wolve and other screen seen jackets. So I get to throw out the discount to all my forum folks...
I have the X1 out here now for order and the X3 should be available to order in about a month.

keep us updated here if you would Spamtron - old thread on the X3 jacket seems to have vanished, am still interested in getting hold of a good quality version of it if possible. Just seems to be too many things not quite right with the Wested version to buy it and then wish you'd gone for a more accurate if pricey version!

Will people be able to order from outisde the US by the way?

as a further question has anyone had any dealings with Abbyshot? noticed via a thread on the RPF forums that they've got an X3 out, any opinions? seems to look like a good one, better than the Wested version, lacking the dark blue beneath the zips on the underside of the forearms but that apart looks good, like the weathered look to it too personally:

I don't like the way the AbbyShot pockets were done, the stripes look way off and there is a seam down the middle of the back. It's a bit better than the Wested version, but I don't know about it being $200 better than the Wested.

This is one of the OG vanson Wolf models in competition leather Octagon w/ Gold stripes

Mine on order is the new standard Wolf with the revisions I had them make, and it will be Dark Brown with Octagon stripes...

Glad you asked hjam! I just got my latest jacket in... I'll be getting pics of it together tomorrow. Unmolested brand new, and then some post weathering. You guys will have to decide how it compares after you see them.

I'll at least show you the Dark Brown w/ Octagon stripes I staqrted with though...only pic I got before starting with the sandblasting, and then the rains started so I've just been breaking the jacket in all week waiting to take the new pics.

same color scheme as my wested almost, xcept my brown isnt so dark, i've been meaning to oil it to darken it, but i do not know what to use, any ideas?

are you going to really WEATER it? like kick the crap outta it?

i'd like to get mine darker but i've got no clue how to do any of it.
how much of the stripes did you take off?
is that where most of the weathering was?

Nope, haven't oiled any of it yet, and not sure that I will.

I'm sure some of the Pecard's leather treatment stuff would work fine for you.

Not much at all, the bead blasting just roughs up and takes off the very pigmented surface, showing the lighter dye-soaked layer. It's just putting a lot of scrathes on the surface really. Some of the high wear areas on the Dark Brown is hit with the same amount of blasting, but because of the way it's dyed doesn't show the same way as the Octagon stripes.

If you get one of these vansons with Gold stripes you can get similar effect by roughing up the yellow stripes and then brushing them with iodine to get more of that darker gold/orange look.

That is my personal vanson ordered when I sent in the first customer order from my site...same as what anyone would receive. It only took me a few days wearing it and a few hours of beed-blasting to break it in to this point.
They don't come weathered since that is an individual preference for most people, and involves wearing the jacket yourself so that it forms to you.
