Unless they are being crafted by Don Draper, nobody likes advertisements. Most of them are ludicrously stupid and a waste of time. In the last few years it has become common practice for movie theaters to show 20 minutes of commercials prior to the start of a film, but one Chinese woman has had enough of that, and now she has decided to take legal action.

I love that she's only suing for the price of her movie ticket. She's basically suing on principle.

Why don't they just give her the money...? It's 11 dollars.

As if a woman in Chinese society will be able to get anywhere.

Because capitalism doesn't work that w--

What? The Chinese are all commies? Nevermind.

I hope she wins some of the managers of these theaters should be in jail for exposing people to the greedy and misleading advertisements of businesses.

At first I thought it was going be that the movie sucked. If that had been the case, she would have just become the heroine of fanboys the world over.

The commercials should only really be 10 minute.

I've done some research on Chinese culture and anthropology and they really take their time usage very seriously.

I don't mind trailers but I hate commercials at the theater.

god speed chinese lady...god speed.

If it keeps the ticket prices down i'm cool with them.

There should be no commercials. Period. We are bombarded with advertisements from the time we walk into the theater til the time we walk out.

Isn't that basically what movies are? Ads with a plot? (Transformers is prime example of this)

That's what I thought too.

Shame, that had me laughing the minute I saw it :D

I don't like commercials at the movie theater. Period!:cmad:

She didn't sue because the commercials wasted her time. She sued because when the movie started, the film was Green Lantern. :P

The one drastic thing i'd do would just ask for a refund.

and you can if you leave before the movie ends and you have a complaint they will give you your money back.

the theater i worked at they gave a refund to a couple that was caught ****ing. so if you get your money back for that then not liking the movie should be ok too.
