We keep moving the goalposts. It will hit 400 million. probably by mid august. Not much more than that as it is starting the 'long slog' time

That's true! And I'll admit, before this film came out--actually, the first week it came out--I predicted a domestic gross of less than 300 million. I didn't see this thing ever being the success that it's been and I've enjoyed the hell out of this box office journey, as I've been a part of it from the start. Very proud

Well, and I predicted 450 mil. worldwide !

I thought that it was a good number for WW !

I thought the movie could potentially bomb and everything might go as it might in an alternate universe where it was critically panned, no sequel announced and the DCEU falling to bits. It's strange to see the exact opposite happening and it seems almost unbelievable. I'm glad it hasn't taken the alternate universe route though.

But if Justice League isn't well received, will that affect this movie's perception and popularity?

Don't see why it would, really. A sequel or film in a universe not doing as well as a previous entry shouldn't cloud feelings on a previous installment. Iron Man 2, X-Men: the Last Stand, Thor: the Dark World, heck, countless sequels, comic book or otherwise, that may not be as well-regarded as the film prior don't overshadow what was still a great film that came before it.

Yeah, look at Bond's Quantum of Solace and it's sequel SkyFall, the reception of Skyfall was not affected by QoS, which was not received well.

BTW, will Spider-Man Homecoming catch WW's worldwide gross? It's at $633,637,838. Despicable Me overtook WW, as WW used to be fourth highest grossing movie of 2017 until very recently.

Homecoming will depend on how Japan and China play. Realistically it's probably looking at an 800M finish, but it might leap a couple dozen past that if it really knocks it out of the park. So it'll be close.

Last Monday was inflated so the Monday-Monday drop isn't all that harsh when you think about it. With 2 consecutive 30% drops on the last 2 Mondays, today's figure would have been closer to 425k. So, WW is still doing good and the insane last Monday number is clouding our judgement.

It's not going to do something crazy everyday. WW is still running more or less parallel to the original Spider-Man, and ahead of Hunger Games.

The final domestic number will probably be somewhere in between those 2.

WW in China is at 90 mil, the figures haven't been updated for a week, and yes, Spidey more their thing.

Where have you been?! We've been worried sick about you! It was just a theory. And you are correct, GoT has been on for three weeks and the last two Sunday drops weren't as bad as this Sunday's. So, pointing the finger at GoT wouldn't make much sense. If you were to guess, what would you say affected Sunday?And, yes, it would be interesting to see what Monday's numbers look like.

I don't think you were. 51.9% is a pretty soft drop from Sunday. Drop from last Monday is bigger than usual but that was expected because last Monday was inflated.

Tuesday increase should be bigger than last week so that should bring the week on week drop back down again.
