So what have you heard from your friends and family about Superman Returns? Have people made good comments about the film and wanting to see it? Or are other bashing it because it can't live up to Donner's Superman films? Do co-workers know the summary of the film as much as you do?

So let's start talking people. What word of mouth is growing through the general public?

My Dad said "Isnt he dead"

My sister said "return from where? Hes on Smallville"

My mom said "I saw that guy on my soaps"

My brother said "Heretic, why are you still beating me up and giving me wedgies? We're adults now"

Everyone I showed the trailers to or saw the TV spots is amped up to see it.

I only met one guy who said he hated it, saying Brandon looked too young. But he also believed Reeve was in his 30s during Superman 1978  And he told me the only way he thinks Supes should be portrayed as, is the 60 year old looking Superman from Kingdom Come.

At the start of all this. I was getting "Where is the guy from Smallville?" But that was 3 years ago. Now I'm literally getting friends that I havent spoken to in years email me and ask me if I'm ready to see it.

Every person who I've shown the trailer to or have seen it on their own have had very good reactions. They all can't wait to see it. They just know it's a Superman movie...they have no idea what it's about really. But the TV spots did their job I believe.

I hear the Christopher Reeve similarity in Brandon mentioned all the time too.

The media coverage tends to drive that point pretty strongly as well.

Everyone around me knows that the movie is coming out. My best friend and I are Superman fanatics and anyone within a five mile radius of us has some sort of idea that there's a new Superman movie coming out.

The only real questions I've had are, "Where did Superman go to?" and "Why is it called 'Superman Returns'?"

A few of my other friends weren't excited about the movie because they thought it was going to be another origin story. When I informed them that it was actually CONTINUING the story of Superman they seemed much more excited to see it.

My mom loves Superman and watches Smallville whenever she can (even though I think the show has gone downhill since season 3). I showed her the 2nd theatrical trailer for Superman and she said, "It's about time a good movie is coming out in theaters." She loved the first two.

My dad is pretty much the same way, and he used to be really into comics as a kid.

My brother...doesn't care...about anything. I was the Superman fanatic of the family and he would make fun of me for it. However, from what I'm hearing about the movie, he should enjoy it.

One more story, and I thought this was just kind of cute. My mom's a 1st grade teacher and last week I had to go into her classroom during the school day to start packing up things to clean out. My mom left the room and told all the kids to play the "quiet game". I knew I'd hate myself if I didn't take advantage of the opportunity so I said, "Alright, you don't have to talk, but, raise your hand if you're going to go see Superman when it comes out."

The whole class raised their hands.

The other night I had to do a show in New Jersey (I'm part of the Music Man) and I was talking to one of the guys back stage who is 27 years old.
I started to talk to him about Superman Returns. Amazingly, he knew everything about it. He was telling me that SR is a sequel to Superman II:eek: . Can you imagine? He was giving me all the information like I didn't know.

I think this is a good sign. He said that he was first exposed to SR when he saw the theatrical trailer and gasped with excitement. He said that Kevin Spacey will be terrific. All of this I already knew, but it's great that the news is spreading around.

Plus, backstage many of the kids my age were excited for Superman Returns as well:up:

One of my friends said it looks "ALRIGHT" after seeing the trailer and eagerly asked "When's the Spiderman 3 teaser comming out!!!"

My whole town is hyped. This is the movie of the summer for us.

Lol. We don't live in Kansas (Smallville). But, our whole town seems to be filled with LOTS of Superman fans...

How do I know this?

Almost everybody loved the trailer.

Smallville Season 5 DVD was completely sold out by our local Media Play by the time I got there (when it was released, 2 hrs after opening). I mean- I seriously didn't expect that. But, it happened. Luckly I was able to find it at Target.

So, word of mouth is VERY positive here.

Two mounths ago the classic reaction was "What? Another Superman movie?"

But now the 80% of people say "I'm going to see it"

I have a strong feeling that SR will be a "word of mouth" blockbuster.

Similar to the first POTC, only this time with great reviews backing it up.

Making SR more than likely either #1 or #2 at box office.

Generating very strong legs due to word of mouth.

DAMN! I was hoping it be a 90 - 10 not a 80 20 ratio.:(

My father in law hates Brandon's hair, he says it's to long, but he still will go see it. I actually got one of my coworkers to read the novel and now he is pretty excited to see it. Everyone else I know just wants to see how good it will be.

Hey, that's the reason word of mouth counts.

Remember what they said about POTC?

"Lol. A movie based on a ride? You're kidding me right?"

With a 70 to 30 ratio. With bad reviews.

And look how that turned out.

No word of mouth here, as far as I can tell.

You can see by yourself reading the negative reviews. The vast majority of them are made only because the critic hates the character of Superman.

I laugh when people say this.... THEY LOOK NOTHING ALIKE EXCPET WHEN they wear the SUIT

Which is why I constantly confuse George Reeves with Dean Cain

Practially everyone makes that assessment though, that they look alike.

I can kinda see it too, especially in the smile. Brandon does what Singer intended, appealed to the general audiences vague memory of the character....and thats why they make that observation.

Its the same length as Chris' in Superman 2.

Most of my pals will see it, especially my superhero-loving friends. I know two ladies who said they saw a trailer and they are both pretty hyped to see the film.
