what words do you live by everyday? That helps you get through the day
my personel favorite is

"Life Sucks get over it"

Mine is

"Think of life as being locked in a room with several chunks of slowly rotting wood. You just happen to have a carving knife. You can carve each and every one of those blocks of wood into something beautiful, but eventually they'll just rot into something ugly and twisted. The question is, would you rather be in a room with a bunch of rotted wood that was once something beautiful, or rotted wood that was never anything at all?"

"Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do."
John Wooden

I can't remember who said it but,

"I find that the most important thing about life is... it goes on."

"If at first you don't succeed then sky-diving's not for you"

"if you give a man a fire, he'll be warm for the night, but if you set a man on fire, he'll be warm for the rest of his life"...I try to be charitable :o

"NEVER put your finger in there."

A friend once told me:

"If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you TEACH a man to fish, you're gay."

Those aren't words to live by, but he said it all wisdom-like without breaking a serious look on his face.

The Joker said:

I applaud you

"He who hesitates, masterbaites."

"Don't try. Don't fail." or something liek that.

"If you give a man a fire... you can't give a man a fire."

^Another one.

Wow. Amazing. That's pretty insightful, coming from a guy like you. :word:

that's an awfully convoluted metaphor

It makes me depressed.

You might as well just say "life is pointless"

Sure feels that way sometimes, though.

Life, to me, is like a quiet forest pool, one that needs a direct hit from a big rock half-buried in the ground. You pull and you pull, but you can't get the rock out of the ground. So you give it a good kick, but you lose your balance and go skidding down the hill toward the pool. Then out comes a big Hawaiian man who was screwing his wife beside the pool because they thought it was real pretty. He tells you to get out of there, but you start faking it, like you're talking Hawaiian, and then he gets mad and chases you... and if you're robbing a bank and your pants fall down, I think it's ok to laugh and let the hostages laugh, because, come on, life is funny.

Actually, the metaphor takes for granted that you already have realised that. It then provides you with a choice: you can take the choice of analytical nihilism, or live in the moment and forget about the big picture.

Which are you going to choose?
