'The end of a six-year nightmare for the world,' EU parliamentarians say

MADRID, Spain - The seismic shift that midterm elections brought to Washington’s political landscape was welcomed by many Wednesday in a world sharply opposed to the war in Iraq and outraged over the harsh methods the Bush administration has employed in fighting terrorism.

From Paris to Pakistan, politicians, analysts and ordinary citizens said they hoped the Democratic takeover of the House of Representatives would force President Bush to adopt a more conciliatory approach to global crises, and teach a president many see as a “cowboy” a lesson in humility.

Beauty! So, how do you think the world views our recent elections?

I think I speak on behalf of the world when I say:

Democrats
Republicans :down

Can I get an amen?! woot-woot:hyper:

The only thing that upset me in the PA elections was Rendell getting re-elected. I can't stand that mafia windbag POS.

As for the way the the rest of the world will see this, I'm sure they won't get their hopes up. Americansky Devils!!!!

I think Rumsfeld stepping down finally will actually help our position in terms of how the world views us.

It's not like the world WANTS to hate the US, but, come on, it's so easy.

dude, would you rather had Swann? Other than looking nice in his suit, I don't know what he stood for.

I like "Big Ed". Why should the old folks go to A.C and Dover Downs with their checks; come to PA to blow your retirement money:word:

I gotta think the people at Al-Jazeera are loving this

Sorry, I would sooner have Lynn Swann as Governor. It would give the state a nice balance. I know quite a few people who have worked with Ed Rendell and they all say he is a friggin' scumbag in person. And he always has a Goodfella with him.

damn ..So, we have our own "Goodfella"?

That`s right, slowly people are finding out that Republicans controlled the American Government and forced it to do horrible things. But the Democrats came to save the day,and give the Government back to the people.

I think everyone underestimates how much dems suck. There was a reason they werent majority for a long time. With this new age of leaders in the party though lets see if they learned lessons from past mistakes.

The world's going to be in a big surprise when nothing changes. The President controls foreign policy and the Democrats lack the ability to overcome Bush's veto power.

The most truthful thing I've read all day. :D And I'm a liberal... if anyone can screw this term up, it's the Democrats.

IF and its a big if, dems prove they have a sack and a plan to change things they could ride this popularity wave all the way to the next presidential election. If.

It's true, Democrats have had a really hard time coming up with a leader than can really charm the hell out of the emotional voters. Come on... most republicans in rural areas get voted in on cultural issues... emotional issues. I feel like the Republicans play that religion card without doing much more than do a few surficial things to make it look like they're pandering to the conservative Christian populace. It's brilliant but hopefully my party will outwit them somehow in the next few years.

Keep your eyes on Barack Obama for pure magnetism. He's not that old but I have never seen a guy so poised, so incredibly smart stand up for a weakened party. He's a true leader.
