Everyone has stated the best, now let's get on the worst games to come out this year. There has been some games that had some hype but ultimately failed once we played them.

Dark Void: I really wanted this game to be good, preordered it and everything. I found myself forcing myself to like the game, the game was doomed, forgettable hero, gameplay we've seen a million times, dumbass enemy AI and NPC AI, the list goes on.

Quantum Theory: Gears of Wa...I mean Quantum Theory was a hot mess IMO, one thing you make a game where it has some features that are similar to Gears, it's another thing when you completely rip it off BIT BY BIT. Once again, forgettable hero, forgettable plot, AI companion, enemies.

Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2: I am soooooooo sick of playing the same storyline over and over and over again, they should just stop making DBZ fighting games altogether. Didn't actually buy the game, but one of my coworkers purhcased it because he's all into anime, so I figured I would play him in a few matches, whew......that game was not fun, it doesn't really manage to differentiate itself from the 13,958,349,589,728 other DBZ fighting games.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1. Wow, there are some interesting ideas in there somewhere and the visuals are pretty decent but the controls are terrible, the shooting is terrible, picking spells is terrible, cover system is terrible, the whole stealth under cloak idea is just awful. I like the idea of turning it into a shooter since that is best way to convey with the movies but wow it did not turn out good.

I agree about DBZ Raging Blast 2, I haven't played it either, but it looks EXACTLY like the last...4 games. It's just the same **** over and over again, but with slightly better graphics and new characters. They new to totally restart from scratch and make a new formula.

Motion Sports, for the Kinect, is the worst game of the year. Watch the giantbomb.com Quick Look and you'll see why.

"Oh please. Alright, let me reintroduce you two: Rider meet horse, horse meet rider."

Probably Iron Man 2.

Out of big games, probably Force Unleashed 2.

The three worst games I have played this year are Mass Effect 2, Splinter Cell: Conviction and Risen.

If Mass Effect makes it on to your worst game of the year list, then you my friend have had an awesome year in gaming. :o

I was saying that Quantum Theory was going to be painful when it was still a PS3 exclusive.

I don´t play bad games so, the worst i´ve played this year is probably Zombie Driver on the PC, which a cool little game....but it´s the worst that i can think

edit: ok, just found out that the game came out Dec 2009

Probably the worst game I played this year was Wheel of Fortune on the Wii. Not a bad game, just boring. It was only saved by the fact that I played it with a bunch of drunken friends.

I agree, there's a difference between not liking a game and it actually being BAD.

I've pretty much given up on the Call of Duty series but I'd never list it as the "WORST!" game of the year.

I haven't played too many bad games this year but out of what I did, I'd have to say Alpha Protocol on the PC, I literally could not get by the hacking minigame for the longest because the controls were so poor.

The combat was repetitive as hell with AI (like most AI) not up to the task dealing with wall cover. It was also pretty easy to exploit as apparently there wall-cover doesn't work. I got up to supposed abandoned ship before getting bored and uninstalled it. Alpha Protocol was much worse. The controls destroy any hope the game has of being enjoyable. Very lazy port. I only played about a half hour of that though. I probably would add Call Of Duty: Black Op's as well, the SP is about 6 hours long with gameplay from 2003. It actually did have a decent story (albeit ripped off as with most of Call Duty) but it got buried underneath a cluster of explosions. The game was also over-priced. And the multiplayer graphics looked horrendous. It's not so much bad as it is annoying that it gets so much praise and sales, as well as myself directly contributing that temporarily giving into hype like a moron. It's pretty much an aids epidemic in gaming form.

I don't play bad games, but Heavy Rain was the worst I've played this year. The controls were poor, moving was especially horrendous. The story alternated between exciting and boring. The end with the identity of the killer was god-awful. [blackout]They just made it the character you least expected and gave a half-assed reason for it[/blackout].

Fair enough, I could see how that would make it an unenjoyable experience for you. I know the gameplay has alienated a few of my friends from playing Bioware games.

I would also agree with your complaints on Black Ops. I enjoyed the single player and thought it had pretty much the best story out of any of the CODs I've played, but the MP did feel like more of the same and after playing with it for a bit, decided to just stick with Modern Warfare's version. Thankfully I rented mine, so I don't feel as strongly about it to include it in any worst game list.

And don't blame yourself for giving in to the hype. Activision is the master of hype building when it comes to the games they really want to push. They know how to pump up the excitement.

Probably Star Wars Force Unleashed 2. Definitely the most disappointing.
