their is a number of very good points on both sides of the argument... again i have to say how surprised i am at the how civil this thread has remained throughout, the captain america casting threads are like prison riots they are so hostile.

back to the subject...i will just say that i want to see harley in the films because i like the character and think that nolan can do AMAZING things with her. Her contributions to the jokers character (or lack there of, if that is your opinion) are a moot point to me... i love Harley, i want her in the movie, thats all their is to it for me immature? maybe a little. oh well, might as well embrace it rather than fight it.

I dont think he would add Harley as she is. She is too fun and cheesy for his tastes.

your right she would not work as she is.... but give nolan some credit, he could do better than "white trash eating intestines". Nolan is amazing at creating incredibly complex and interesting characters. Memento, BB, The Prestige, TDK, and I'm willing to bet Inception are all proof of that.

Well i certainly wouldnt want to see her the way fans portray her in the manips thread.

And she didn’t have one bad day. She made a decision she thought it was cool. And she did it because hse had a crush or love him, not because her mind go twisted.

If it’s all for love then she is FAR from being Joker’s ultimate product.


That doesn’t mean she’s not naive, but that she’s smart and skillfull. She is a Joker wannabe and all she wants is his approval.

But of course she’s naive enough to pretend being loved by the Joker which means that her need for his approval is far bigger than her knowledge of him; he doesn’t love.

She has lasted so long with the Joker for a reason: that is the way they have been written. With a real Joker she’d be dead the second she revealed as a sidekick wannabe.

He twisted her mind for her to develop the infatuation. He told her a sympathy story and got her to think that he was just misunderstood. The relationship snowballed from there.

She's lasted so long with the Joker because she is the only character to love him. He probably keeps her around out of some sense of curiosity of what that feels like. He probably also keeps her around as a game. To see how far he can push her before she lashes back at him.

And act of what exactly?

An act of deception.

How could she possibly “use” her being abused to her advantage?

By making people feel sorry for her. By making people feel that she's not so bad, it's not her fault, she's being forced to do these things by the Joker etc etc.

And what pleasure could Joker take from a woman who wnats to be beaten? That’s the end of the pleasure. Joker corrupts people who does NOT want to be corrupted. She’s a piece of cake; she wants to serve Joker. That is the opposite of what Joker usually holds as a challenge.

The pleasure of knowing that no matter how badly he treats her, she will always come back to him. Because he has that power over her.
