The difficult game levels thread got me thinking about how bad a lot of movie-based video games are. I tried to do a search to see there was already a thread here on the subject but the search function isn't working for me at the moment I type this, so forgive me if a thread already exists, the search wasn't working for me at the time.

Of every movie-based game you've ever played for any console, what are the absolute worst you've played and why, with a short and to the point description? My picks in no particular order and from memory:

-Total Recall for the NES - this game is infamous for being terrible and deservedly so. Broken gameplay, ridiculous difficulty, a ton of random BS that wasn't even in the movie and it's all-around tedious.

-Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade for the NES (UbiSoft version) - never got past the first level thanks to the broken controls and game engine, and ridiculously cheap gameplay. Graphics are ugly even by NES standards.

-Last Action Hero for the NES - cheap gameplay and poor hit detection, and it gets boring within minutes.

-RoboCop for the Game Boy - barely got the past the first level or two, pathetically cheap and broken gameplay and mechanics.

-Cliffhanger for the Genesis - cheap and frustrating gameplay with poor controls, and I never got past the avalanche level.

-Batman Forever for the SNES - played this at a friend's home years ago, could never figure out how to play it and could never get used to the controls. Even if you did master them, the game was a major pain and completely unfun in every department.

-The Lost World: Jurassic Park for the PS1 - does gameplay get anymore cheap, broken and ridiculously difficult and not in a good fashion than this? The T-Rex levels are a joke with how easily you can die in them, and the others aren't much better.

There's probably more but that's what I remember right now. I must admit I have a soft spot for the much-maligned Friday The 13th and Nightmare On Elm Street games for the NES, both are tough but oddly fun.

E.T. for the 2600. It's considered by most to be the worst video game ever made. My friend actually owns and I've played it. That's no hyperbole.

'T2: Judgment Day(Super NES)', 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine(PS2)', 'The Da Vinci Code' and 'X-Men: The Official Game'.

These three games... all... suck.

'T2' is fine, once you begin playing it. But the further more you progress, the far more annoying it becomes. From the irritating (not to mention repeatedly looping) music to the repetitive-ass gameplay. This game just simply... sucks, and is the worst on my personal bunch.

'Wolverine'... This is what you get when the developers are a bunch of lazy butt-mongers. The game for the PS3 and 360 are both pretty good, damn good actually, but the PS2 version is just terrible. Bad graphics and bad "hack and slash" gameplay give you a bore of an experience with this one.

'The Da Vinci Code' is one of the worst games I've ever played. In fact, I think I'll take back what I said about 'T2' ("the worst on my personal bunch") and tack it onto this garbage. This game is the worst of the bunch. This game is just so stiff, dull and boring that it begs for the worst. The combat is completely out of place... But simply, this whole damn game is out of place and should've never even been brought up at the round table.

And finally, 'X-Men: The Official Game'. I love how they call this one "The Official Game", really says a lot. And it's funny that pretty much all of the past 'X-Men' games rocked and didn't even bother to call themselves "Official" to the franchise. Why do you play only as three characters in this game? Well, because it's 'X-Men'... What a bundle of bullspit! Three characters?! You've got to be kidding me. It would've been nicer if those three characters were smaller (minor) characters from the movies, like: Cyclops, Kitty Pryde, Collossus, or others, in-order to give us more background on them with coming into the third film. But no! Getting rid of Nightcrawler in the third film was bull----, seriously. He was one of my favourite characters from the second movie. However, I'm going to guess that it was on the actor's (Alan Cumming) behalf not to star in the film. Probably not because of the script, but because of the hours he would have to yet again spend in the make-up chair. If was nice to see that cleared up with this game, but... come on. That seems to have been their only real plan with the release of this game (as the Nightcrawler missions are undeniably the best of the bunch) with explaining why he wasn't there in the third film. But, if that was the case, why didn't you just make this a blistering Nightcrawler game? I think it's because they want Wolverine to have everything and anything to do with the 'X-Men' series from now until forever. It's ridiculous.

Which T2 game? The Arcade game, the NES game or the Genesis platformer?

I think the Genesis and SNES games were the same. The driving levels in it are tedious, but I enjoyed the platforming bits.

I enjoyed the platforming bits as well... But, it got boring after the first hour. And the driving bits did not help at all; I didn't even know where I was going with it, half the time.

I think an easier thread would be "best movie games". Just about all movie based games bite.

I can't stress how much I can't stand the driving bits where you have to make it to and from the Salceda compound, very tedious to navigate.

And having cop cars chasing you all over while trying to get to and from the compound, ugh.

Yeah, it can be quite the annoying game during the majority of the time (IMO). I kind of wish that they'd remake these games for the consoles we have available today, because the games of these movies from the past (obviously) didn't reach their fullest potential. Compared to the two movies that absolutely obliterated the potential backing themselves up.

That game also omitted the canal chase from the film, which was pretty disappointing.

Yes, X-Men: The Official Game is a crappy game. I tried it for the supposedly easy achievements. I got 20 points in it & quit. Crap, crap,CRAP.

There's only a few movie-based games that are great: Chronicles of Riddick, Spider-man 2, LEGO Star Wars and LEGO Indy. One that is good but had the potential to be better was Batman Begins.

Other that those, the rest pretty much suck.

The recently released X-Men Origins: Wolverine is a really solid title. I wouldn't say its better than a Chronicles of Riddick but its a good title.

Spiderman 3

Yes & it has the most illogical boss battle of all time. Kingpin being harder than Venom, Sandman & all of the other bosses combined even though he's just a fat dude & Spidey was in the black suit.

Star Wars Revenge of the Sith for X-box.

Main reason? for not allowing you to play as Yoda.. i mean wtf???

Oh, I know. And how 'bout the way you defeat the T-1000 in the game? :whatever:

I only hope you rented it, because I rented it. And to be honest, I can barely remember a single level from the game. It's that forgettable.
Spiderman 3
Oh, my God. There's another one I missed. I played this for the PS2 (so I'm not really sure of how it plays out on other consoles), and it sucks... Gotta love the clay-mation cutscenes, just fantastic. Usually in-game graphics are worse than cutscene graphics, but not with this game. The web-swinging was a huge disappointment, when compared to 'Spider-Man 2'. You'd expect a game like this (right off the bat) to be an improvement over the last installment, which was a pretty good game. But, not with this game. It's pretty much just a great leap backwards in-terms of what the last game did which made this mediocre game seem to be even further more mediocre.

One of the worst I have ever played was "Back to the Future" on the NES. That game was as frustrating and confusing as can be.
