If the film and the character were done correctly, do any of you think that a franchise would be possible?

It would need some real serious changes to be adapted into a live action film IMO.
I agree fullheartedly about his origin, the mace, etc.Batman said:Whoever it is that directs or writes the film, would really have to understand the character for what he's worth. Especially so people don't go to see the film, and compare his wings or flight to that of Angel from X-Men 3.
I don't think too many changes would be necessary, but some slight modifications to his suit wouldn't hurt that much. This suit is what I see it being based upon, but the mace shoudn't change at all. Same goes for the backround story, such as Carter Hall being an incarnation of an ancient Egyptian price as well as being an archeologist. Along with finding the "ninth metal" which allows him to fly in the first place.
In my opinion, Hawkman really is one of the few characters that could make it's way onto screens.

But I really don't think the costume could be taken all that seriously. I mean, I could be wrong about that, and make-up artists & costume designers could very well blow me away, but I just can't picture Hawkman's costume making the transition to live action, and being taken seriously, without some real alterations.
Batman said:The helmet of the suit wouldn't need any heavy changes in my opinion. That should remain untouched. But I could probably see people making a mockery of the colors that represents his suit such as, the green or the red. Perhaps he could don a more armor looking suit, but with the original being kept in mind. The sketch I posted is a good example. I also think the emblem on his chest shouldn't change as well, considering every hero has their own sign.
Honestly, if taken seriously, the suit could work well on screen. But again, it's a question of who exactly is willing to take that direction. If not, the only thing I'd add to add to the more "Hawk looking" appearence, are some battle wrapped gloves. Which of course would look great whenever he has the mace in hand. Though I'd have no problem with just the bare arms. I could also see the colors being darkend just a bit, which is only an option.

Not the red undies over the green tights. Whoever plays him need to to be ripped with lots of muscle. Like Conan with wings.
