Wreck-It Ralph 2

Never underestimate Disney. Or at least their animation studios... they haven't released a bad movie since 2005. I can't freaking wait to watch that princesses scene.

Is anyone else a little put off by the incestuousness of Disney making a movie that so heavily references their own products? I guess I've never been a fan of easter eggs for their own sake (I didn't care for Ready Player One at all), but this movies seems like it takes it to a new extreme.

They do it all the tine, it's just more subtle at times. Kingdom Hearts is the same principle.

I keep assuming there's an actual thematic motive behind jumping from the arcade era right into The Emoji Movie. Did they release a story trailer yet?

A kid in the arcade breaks the steering wheel to Sugar Rush. Vanellope and the others flee to Game Central Station, as the plug to their game is about to be pulled.

Litwak connects his computer to the extension cord, in the hopes of finding a replacement steering wheel on eBay, Thus bringing the internet to Game Central Station. Ralph & Vanellope venture into the internet, and that's all we know.

It's not so much of a spoiler now, but the focus starts to become how Vanellope becomes attached to Slaughter Race and Ralph becomes an internet meme. From what ive pieced together.

Near as I can tell, it's two hours of internet jokes and Disney product placement. Ralph and Vanellope seem to be the only characters from the first movie with any major involvement.

That might not be what it's really like but that's what it looks like to me.

And I can't help but be skeptical about the breathless early Twitter reviews after all of the "Best Star Wars Movie EVER!!!!!!" early Twitter reactions for The Last Jedi.

I guess Felix and Calhoun play into this somewhere, but damn if we've even heard a word from either.

I actually liked TLJ, but this seems particularly soulless and money grubbing even by normal Disney standards. It's like awards season on steroids, two hours of Disney patting themselves on the back and saying how great their company is.

Kingdom Hearts I can forgive because it's a game and games always have multiple character skins you can play as. A movie's a completely different beast, not only in popular culture and a wider audience appeal/demographic, but in the fact that it's inherently narrative based and has to function as a story on its own terms. It can't rely solely on references and easter eggs to function, it needs character arcs and plot first and foremost.

I'm calling it now, Henson's character is secretly a villain.

I just finished watching the 1st one for my first time ever and I kinda liked it. I mean it wasn't really a very funny movie like I expected it to be but it got me a bit emotional on more than a couple of occasions so that's great. Disney knows how to get you in the feels and WIR was no exception to that rule.

I agree. The bit where Ralph destroyed Vanellope's kart tugged on my heartstrings.

I'm calling it now, Henson's character is secretly a villain.

I think that's a little too obvious. I wonder if the green guy that keeps showing Ralph & Vanellope ads will be the villain? (Maybe he is malware?)

One of the TV spots showed him standing in the background of the scene with Ralph and the creepy fat guy. (Ralph is in the 'dark web' in that scene)

I had the same suspicon for a while but now that I think about it, it's a little too obvious.

Think about it. She is a powerful character in her world, and wants to take advantage of Ralph to get what she wants. Gee, who else was like that?

King Candy

Disney likes to throw curve balls with their villans these days. I do admit I miss the obviously evil villains from back in the day at times.

They stopped doing the evil from-the-start baddie after Tangled for w/e reason.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m getting rather tired of the secret villain routine from Disney.

Didn't the directors flat out say no twist villains this time? It might just be either Shank or just no villain period.

The villain was Q*Bert the whole time!
