A lot of things AEW is pitching sound nice, but I need to see it in action before I believe it. I'm cautiously excited right now.

I wonder how AEW was able to get MJF out of his contract with MLW?

I've approached this AEW thing with cautious optimism at best. They need to prove and establish themselves before they even get TV. Also they need to present a product that's going to reach the masses and I'm not liking what I'm hearing.

Rally was okay, but all that to announce Chris Jericho and Billy Gunn's signings?

We've seen the reaction from WWE that they make AEW fans wear WWE t-shirts over AEW t-shirts or get thrown from the building.

The problem is now between WWE/ New Japan/. ROH Vs. AEW. Impact is in a good place right now with the simulcast this Friday with Pursuit and Twitch.

Impact will be in Mexico to do the tapings this Friday and Saturday.

They all seem to be excited for AEW and want to change the game...it already feels a lot stronger than TNA did when it was announced just from the way they all present it.
But other than that we need to wait, you dont build up a promotion in a month...could very well start fully in 2020 or later.
This stuff takes time, but it looks promising so far.

Surprised about Jericho, i know that the rumors said he took it personally when the WWE waved his cruise and any kind of promotion or so off...but i thought if anything he would stay with NJPW.
He made a big deal about "promising" Vince to never work for a US promotion outside the WWE...so thats a surprise to me.

I suspect AEW will have an easier time finding a broadcasting home than WCW did when it folded. The environment between 1999 and now for media is completely different.

    Pretty good Smackdown.

Not sure if it was the new direction mandate but the show was a lot more fast paced. Just about everyone who appeared on screen advanced their storylines or showcased their character. The wrestling was solid. We even got a piledriver variation which is usually a move on WWE's banned list (although certain more experienced wrestlers use it occasionally and the Undertaker does his weak looking tombstone piledriver).

If WWE is easing up on Piledrivers then I hope Kevin Owens comes back and starts piledriving people like there is no tomorrow.

I was shocked to see Mysterio and Almas perform a Mexican Destroyer. And one that looked so good, too.

The WWE can easily rely on John Cena, Dwayne Johnson and David Bautista to "reach out to the masses" especially Cena. AEW does not have that. the WWE also has The Bellas and to a lesser degree Ronda Rousey. AEW has nobody like that.

Finn shows up to Takeover to one of the great reactions in WWE history. Two really good matches to start things off the first UK Takeover.

The first NXT UK Takeover is being booked like a regular NXT Takeover.

I really shouldn't be surprised that this NXT UK Takeover has been awesome so far.

Toni won the title in a pretty darn good match, but that main event... my god. Even with the clearly botched attempts at the finale, it was one of the great WWE matches of all time.

    "ARE YOU WATCHING NEW JAPAN?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Ah the NXT Brand, where even the botches are awesome. Now we get two different sets of NXT Takeovers? Good lord!

Takeovers are the reason I have chosen not to cancel the WWE Network.

NXT and NXT UK are internet only shows, so they cater to fans on the internet.

I like how the whole "lets go to the crowd to see who has signed with us" has carried over to the UK. I wonder who does that for NXT Takeover Phoenix?

Yes. His last New Japan match will be against Tanahashi on January 29th. I would not be surprised if he's in the crowd for the WM Takeover though. My prediction right now is Chelsea Green. She has already signed, but has yet to appear on TV for NXT.
