Is it still overheating and crap? I might get one around christmas time. I just don't want to spend money on something, only to have it blow up in my face. Unless if the product is suppose to do that.

I've had my 360 since around launch, and I've had it on for 14 hours before, on a black entertainment center, without much room to air out, and have had no problems, ever. Most of 360's "problems" were posted by the same people that give Fable 2 and Halo 3 bad user reviews on various sites before so much as a gameplay video is released. Put no stock in those.

My japanese ps3 keeps crashing on me though, don't buy one.

LMAO. Yeah I think like 147% of them are having overheating problems already, and some are even giving young children cervical cancer after like an hour of usage.

No, but seriously. I've had my 360 since launch morning, and I've had no problems with mine at all whatsoever either.

I do know that some overheat though. My roommate's did after a couple weeks, but that, too, was a lanch system.

So yeah, some systems do malfunction, but nowhere NEAR the amount that many people like to exaggerate.

Good thing though is how awesome Microsoft is at replacing those said systems.

Someone I know at another board is getting an oldish tatty 360 in exchange for the one that Microsoft lost

I don't have one (yet), but both of brothers do. They haven't had a problem.

Never had a single problem. I am convinced all the overheating issues were from people sticking the console in a closed entertainment unit or from blocking the fans.

Only problems I've had haven't really involved the hardware, just the games. Far Cry Predator seems to get scratched in the same area when I play. I don't tilt or touch the system like an idiot when something is inside, so I don't know what it is. One week there were about four scratches, I look at it months later now there are about twelve. :down

That and Oblivion occasionally locked up after hours of play. Thank JEEEESus for quicksaves and whatnot.

I've also had a 360 since launch and I've had no problems at all.
The only thing I want them to add as an update is the ability to stream or better store videos on your 360. Without using Media Center that is.

i've had mine since launch and i used it for a whole day once

and forgot to turn it off at night

its still fine

You just need to take a gamble. You might be unlucky and get a faulty console, but that's just a risk you take.

I still have my launch PS2 and it works pretty much fine. The only problem I get is with blue disks, which I sometimes have to turn my PS2 upside down or to the side to get working. :p

I've had no problems with the console at all, but PDZ locked up when I played it once...yet another reason that game sucked :o

my roomates 360 broke and he sent it back, but they fixed it for free

My friends working fine. Its not the system that sucks, its the mediocre games.

I do have a problem with it, actually.
It's most likely broken because everyone was shooting me in CoD2 last night

lol, you made me discover the greatness of the pistol Gammy. I just aim, make sure the guy is covered completely by the gun model, and unload the clip into him.

So if it overheats they just replace it?

the problem is that the 360 is a superpowered pc crammed into small tower. try the nyko intercooler to help cool the 360 down, or wait till 2007

One of the most common consumer complaints about the next-gen console is that its graphics capability requires a central processing unit which needs to be cooled by a constantly running, less-than-stealthy ventilation system. In other words, its fan is loud.

Some disgruntled consumers have even compared the 360's fan to a Blackhawk helicopter. Those same consumers will welcome today's news that the Xbox 360 is getting a new CPU which runs at lower temperature. Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing has announced it will begin making the Xbox 360's CPU using a 65-nanometer (nm) Silicon-on-Insulator (SOI) semiconductor technology. Currently, the Singapore-based hardware manufacturer company makes 90nm Xbox 360 CPUs under an agreement with IBM, designer of the CPU. The first Xbox 360s with the new CPU will go on sale in 2007.

For laymen, the change means that the new 65mm Xbox 360 CPUs will have more chips per wafer--which means lower energy requirements, lower heat output, and cheaper chip production costs. That is music to Microsoft's ears. "We look forward to working with Chartered on the production of such an important component of our Xbox 360 system," said Larry Yang, General Manager of Xbox Console Development at Microsoft.
