X-Men ‘97 X-Men ‘97 News and Discussion Thread (TAG SPOILERS!!!!)

Gyrich's monologue probably touched a nerve. "Wait? We're the baddies?"

Sidenote: It's doing great on viewer reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and on IMDB, so it seems to be isolated to Metacritic right now.

My only gripe is that, while it's cool they brought the old cast back, you can definitely tell their ages with some characters and it's a bit off.

Dodd's original Wolverine is iconic, but it also isn't detrimental for Logan to sound a little older and weathered. Dude is over 100 years old after all. He had his moments when he captured that old sound as well.

I thought that the entire returning group was great but Alison Sealy-Smith was the stand-out. She sounded like she stepped out of a time machine direct from the 90's. It's interesting that they brought in original Cable actor Lawrence Bayne to voice X-Cutioner. I was also surprised to hear a different voice actor portraying Gambit. Chris Potter is apparently going to be in the show, but he's going to be Nathan Summers/Cable. Original Jean Grey Catherine Disher was given a new role as Val Cooper.

Yeah... the only ones who truly didn't miss a beat were Storm, Beast and X-Cutioner (played by OG Cable).

Jennifer Hale has been in the game for years and I know she's not the original VA for Jean, but she still sounds good.

This was basically my X-Men growing up. As a 90's kid, this show defined my X-Men fandom and made every Saturday morning an event. It was everything.

X-Men '97 doesn't miss a step. I don't know how kids today will respond to it but for us 90's kids, this is everything. God, that intro/theme still gets to me. :xmen:

I was surprised by George Buza because he hasn't really been able to hit the cadence and inflections in the lead up to the revival during YouTube interviews etc. when asked to do Beast lines. Shows what I know. Direction and superior microphones can make all the difference.

I felt that way but in reverse with Lenore Zann. I saw some old YouTube clips with her doing Rogue lines and she sounded great. On the actual show, she was a bit hit/miss.

I love me my Commander Shepard in anything she does.

These episodes were great definitely nostalgic! The voice Cring is great Storm and Beast sound the same Wolverine I still thinks sounds ok he has his moments the weak one out of the bunch for me r Rogue and Morph.

By the way I loved all the cameos Morph used in the action scenes can’t wait to see some more

This exceeded my expectations. Easily the best Marvel content since Endgame. I hope the rest of the series can keep it up.

Also Morph is too OP. If he imitates the Prof does he have telepathy too?

That "Skip intro" button on Disney Plus has never been more irrelevant.

I wish the episodes were released on fridays, so I could watch them on saturday morning. :ilv:

I guess I'll save saturdays for rewatch then.

Lol at Tyrone Magnus twisting himself into a pretzel to say the show that is very clearly “woke” is “not woke” just because he loved it, and people in the comment section of his video calling him out on it. You love to see it.

Ok very glad that this is getting such acclaim and I can’t wait to watch these first two episodes. Before I watch the revival I want to rewatch the original animated series and then watch the new episodes so I have two days off of work starting tomorrow and plan to do so. Happy you guys are enjoying it so far and your hype has me excited to watch.
