X-Men 3 Online - Articles on X3

About all the mutants that people seem to be talking about, I know mostly everyone on this board knows who they are, but IMO the "average" moviegoer will not have a clue, unless they are mentioned by name and state their powers, and IMO they will only be cameo roles. When I saw the first X-Men on TV (this was my pre-fandom as I only came to the franchise because I became a fan of Jackman) I had no clue who the other characters were other than the main ones, and I think a lot of moviegoers may be the same way. I know the people I will be going to see X-3 with won't know who anyone else is.

And what is this with Halle/Storm "hogging the screen" (or whatever words were used)? I'm thinking maybe Halle's request for a juicier role or more screen time are making some people think her character is pushing everyone else out of the way. I'm not sure that's true.

Lets hope not, though I am hoping for a better role (Storm) I don't want a one woman show, we learnt from X1 & X2 that it doesn't please everyone.

Amen to that-there's a reason it's called the x-men,we what the whole team not just wolvy and storm.

Didn't know where to post this and don't know if it was been posted yet.

X3 Novelization from Comicscontinuum.com

The novelization of X3, written by Chris Claremont and based on the screenplay by Zak Penn and Simon Kinberg, is scheduled for release on May 16 from Del Rey.

Here's how the 352-page book is described:

"The X-Men, mutant heroes sworn to defend a world that hates and fears them, are back! This time, with the help of new recruits The Beast and Angel, they must face evolution itself in the form of their former teammate, Jean Grey! Possessed with the cosmic power of the Dark Phoenix, the resurrected Jean Grey has become a danger to herself, her mutant comrades, and the entire planet! To stave off this imminent threat to humanity, a potential cure is discovered and processed to treat -- and ultimately eliminate -- genetic mutations, once and for all! Now, as the battle lines are drawn, the X-Men, led by Professor Charles Xavier, must contend with both Jean Grey's world-consuming powers, as well as the malevolent Brotherhood, a band of powerful mutants organized under Xavier's former ally, Magneto!"

Claremont, who also wrote the X2 novelization, make a non-speaking cameo in X3.

'X3'' (May 26): Those marvelous mutants return for what could be the final chapter in the ''X-Men'' saga. The whole crew is back, including Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Rebecca Romijn and Famke Janssen, whose character seemingly died a watery death at the end of ''X2: X-Men United.''

With Singer moving on to ''Superman Returns,'' directing duties fell to Brett Ratner, maker of the ''Rush Hour'' flicks.

This time out, the superpowered mutants find themselves slowly being more accepted into a society that feared them as freaks, only to face new turmoil when a ''cure'' is discovered for their mutant condition.

''If you could actually get rid of your special power which alienates you from the rest of the world, would you do it?'' said Jackman, who reprises his role as Wolverine. ''It's a metaphor very much about intolerance, I think, fear of anything that's different. If you could choose to not be Jewish or not be gay or not be African-American. Life maybe is not as easy if you're a minority. Would you take the opportunity to change that if you could?''

Jackman said ''X3'' would conclude the ''X-Men'' trilogy, though a Wolverine solo movie is in the works.

"Domestic box office" always means U.S. I'm sure everyone is expecting it to do better than X-2, and it has to do better than X-2's opening weekend.

Courtesy www.boxofficemojo.com:

X-Men:
Production Budget: $75 million
Marketing: $22.7 million
Opening weekend: $54,471,475
Domestic box office: $157,299,717
Overseas: $138,700,000
Worldwide: $295,999,717

X-2:
Production Budget: $110 million
Marketing: $40 million
Opening weekend: $85,558,731
Domestic box office: $214,949,694
Overseas: $191,500,000
Worldwide: $406,449,694

500 Million worldwide would be a good target:up:

Not all the X3 props were thrown away.....

From L’Ecole Bilingue/Bilingual School's - Newsletter #8:

2006 January 25

On the topic of garbage and recycling: school families may have noticed two new, very high tech combination garbage-recycling containers on the north side of the school. These were “scooped” by school parent Faye Peterson from the set of “X-Men III”, custom made for the film at a cost of $1000 each... and free to us!

X3 UPDATE

Sources told The Continuum there will "almost certainly" be guests affiliated with X3 at both WonderCon and Wizard World Los Angeles.

In other X3 notes:

* Not only is Nightcrawler not in the film, it's likely he won't even be mentioned.

* As seen in the trailer, a different actor is playing the president.

* Burger King will have international promotions, but there's no word yet on domestic tie-ins.

Wondercon, Saturday 11th February:

11:00-12:30 20th Century Fox/Fox Searchlight Presents— Fox Searchlight presents, from deep within the brilliant imagination of film master Wes Craven (the Scream trilogy, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Red Eye), a reinterpretation of his 1977 cult classic The Hills Have Eyes, coming out March 6. With Craven in a producing role, the cutting-edge filmmakers behind Haute Tension, Alexandre Aja (as director/writer) and Gregory Levasseur (as writer), have refashioned Craven’s chilling story so that it may terrify yet another generation of filmgoers. Craven is joined by stars Aaron Stanford and Vinessa Shaw. Plus a special look at the acclaimed Russian horror film, Night Watch, debuting Feb. 17!

20th Century Fox presents an exclusive look at some of the studio’s biggest pictures for 2006. Fear the day—6/6/06 (666!)—when The Omen takes over theaters across the country. A remake of the 1976 classic, the new film takes the tale of the coming of the Antichrist, personified by a young boy named Damien, to an even more thrilling and visceral level. Director John Moore will screen specially prepared footage.

Hugh Jackman is in Australia this weekend for a cocktail party and press conference announcing the dates for his Boy from Oz tour in Australia in August - I'm sure it wiull get lots of press. Here's hoping at this press conference they will ask him something about X3 - I'm keeping my eyes open.

I not sure what time it is right now over at WonderCon but if anything new is released for X3 it looks like it will be withing the next few hours

Hopefully we'll find out who Ken Leung is along with others

hopefully something interesting will be announced and maybe some more posters or pics or something
