Who would have been the Horseman? I don't think McKellan would have wanted a huge role again.

Off topic, but I loved how Avengers Alliance made Rogue Famine. It was such a great move given her powers and history.

using deadpool with is r rated comedy and turns X-men including Colossus into
a Joke?

So you are advocating X-men franchise turn into one big comedy where everyone but deadpool is a joke?
Well your concern seems to be what makes the most money. So yes, according to you.

Reviews definitely hurt the film. I personally was OK with the movie. Definitely not a classic like X2 or DOFP but not utter garbage like X3.

It's a sufficient ending to the FC trilogy.

If the lower estimates are correct, DoFP will have earned more its opening weekend than Looking Glass and Apocalypse combined. You can't really blame the underperformance on Alice 2.

It's a factor, but not the only one.

Spacing these blockbusters out more evenly has to be a good thing. BvS seemed to benefit from having no competition around it. People were thinking 'oh well, i might as well check it out' as there were no other films to distract their attention.

I have long maintained original cast isn't coming back.even if fox could
convince Jackman to return post wolverine solo film he would be put with
apoclaypse cast In new X-men film.

I want people to stop tryiny to deny original cast was part of reason for
DOFP success.

Inless jackman changes his mind solo wolverine film will be last time any
of original cast is used.and even then they could want to put jackman with younger cast if they can change his mind.

Others want X-men franchise to be all about deadpool.which is far worse than all the moaning about wolverine.at least wolverine was a real X-man and their most popular member.
Part? Yes. All? No.

Wow this could make just 170+M total in the U.S... Civil War opening weekend might be higher then Apocalypse total.

That's not going to change.

also rival studios aren't going to just hand over whole summer to disney.

Regardless apoclaypse is probally last time an X-men film will come out in
May.Disney will ensure with avengers and Star wars they control all of may.

I do think they will recast Wolverine for the next X-men film. He is sort of a major part of the team and a big draw to the audience.

So basically, Batman being added to Man of Steel.

No, I wasn't. But the notion that the OT cast would make more has already been demolished by Deadpool.
How is Deadpool still not a joke?

If turning the X-Men into joke characters and the movies being R-rated comedies is what it takes to make the best X-Men BO, then have at it.

No other studio is doing them.

Variety is good. As Marvel has shown, make different genre flicks with the variety of characters. There are plenty of X-Men that suit different types of films. Deadpool was a great start.

Going to be a sad day when Jackmon hangs up the claws. :csad: Really not sure of the direction of the Xmen from this point forward. More questions than answers.

It would be better not to have any X-men films.

There is a difference between comedic and a joke .

Deadpool Colossus is comedic.

Singer Colossus is a joke.

I don't see this making 170M domestic, but I've been wrong before.

If it makes anyone feel better, the whole BO this Memorial day weekend has been low across the board, all the movies took a hit.

Except this time, it doesn't hurt the character by adding murderman...
Not talking quality here. That I agree with. I am talking from a practical POV. Which is exactly why I don't see the old cast returning. Maybe they will decide on a one off, but that is all it would be. They aren't going to make X-Men flicks with the majority of the cast in their late 40s, early 50s.

Two years in a row it has been rather horrible.

if they can't get jackman to change his mind they defently are recasting.
I always maintained they aren't going to retire most popular character of X-men.It's what they did to keep james bond going for 40 years before they went full on reboot.

If it weren't for Deadpool making crazy money Fox would be having second thoughts about this franchise. With a great film like DoFP the receipts are modest and with young new characters in FC & Apocalypse they are abysmal. He has to appear in X-Force now.

I'm hoping Josh Boone delivers another hit with New Mutants.

"sources familiar with the project say the film will be based on the 1980s run of the Marvel comic, and that tonally it will be—”John Hughes meets Stephen King”—leaning towards horror and the supernatural."
