Apocalypse X-Men Apocalypse News and Discussion - Part 3

So in essence Apocalypse's end game is to rule over mutants that he feels are strong enough to deserve to live and cull those that aren't, whereas Magneto's conflict would come from him feeling that all mutants deserve life regardless of how strong or weak.

I don't even think mags wants all humans dead. He just doesn't buy Xaviers cohabitation theory.

Also Apocalypse wants to genuinely progress evolution.

Malcolm X V.S Martin Luther King

Black people would be mutants in that case... 60's were weird

I alwayssaw it as being that Magneto and Xavier both want their race to be equal to humans but have different methods whereas Apocalypse is more of a Nazi whereby he sees only the best as deserving to live.

Thats pretty accurate.

I always say Magneto as wanting role-reversal. Think reversal of his position in WW2. Mutants having the power and humans just serve or are removed. He views humans as a lesser species, not equals.

Yeah, that's what I always got from him. He won't kill us but he does want us to recognize that they are our superiors. He will kill us if we get in his way though.

I thought this was it to and all the back story was retcon in later. Prof/Mag weren't old friends in the early issuses right?

Yes, that pretty much sums it up. While Xavier thinks that mutants and ordinary humans should have equal rights, Magneto thinks that mutants are inherently superior to ordinary humans, and thus, humans should acknowledge mutants as their betters. Magneto won't kill humans if he doesn't have to, but he will demand that humans live under a system where mutants are privileged above them. And he will kill anyone who actively tries to oppose his plans to create such a system of mutant supremacy.

Apocalypse takes Magneto's idea of supremacy a step further, in a very extreme way. He believes that only the strongest deserve to survive, and the weak must be exterminated so that the strong can inherit the Earth. As far as Apocalypse is concerned, ordinary humans are inherently weak, and therefore, they don't really deserve to exist at all. As for mutants, he thinks that only the "strongest" should be allowed to live. He thinks that the best way to further evolution is to wipe out the "weak" mutants, leaving only those mutants who are "strong enough" to survive whatever awful horrors Apocalypse can dream up in his twisted, fanatical imagination.

I'm really hoping that they move away from Erik trying to rule the humans, and instead focus on him realizing that that dream isn't the best one, and instead, he creates his Avalon. Whether that is Genosha, or Asteroid M, either way, the idea of him creating a free, mutant only society, seems like a logical step and could lead to so many other good stories, including Cortez and the Alcolytes.

What I don't want to see is them shove Magneto in with Apocalypse. As has already been explained, there two have very different philosophies, and do not belong together. Truth is, Magneto is not necessarily "evil", while Apocalypse is!

That may be a turning point for him in this movie where he sees that he could become like Apocalypse if he keeps down that path, so he decides to just create a place for mutants to live and just leaves the rest of us to our own devices.

Since because of "reboot" In DOFP we haven't really had Magneto rule world

FC-He sets out to use missiles on Americans and russians who tried to kill all the mutants on Cuba
DOFP-He takes control of sentinles and tries to kill Nixon,Trask, and others at white House to prevent them from attacking mutants

We all know at some point Magneto will team up with Xavier again against Apocalypse.

Post Apocalypse we can a magneto VS X-Men film again. We haven't really gotten it In FC trilogy and the original Trilogy doesn't count anymore.

It Is same thing with any "rebooted" prioperty.

Does anyone think they will make any effort to age Charles, Erik, Raven and Hank? Or will they continue to look like they did in FIRST CLASS twenty years prior? I know, I know...comic book aging rules and slowed mutant aging and all that but they've got to do something, right? I bet they don't.

Well they won't have any issue aging Mystique and Beast, the later will be under tons of makeup anyway which will make it pretty easy. As far as Mystique, Hank pretty much explained that in First Class - "When you're forty, you'll still have the leukocytes of a teenager."

Not worried about them aging up Magneto and Xavier either - that'll be pretty easy with makeup, hair, clothing etc.

Well, they already confirmed Raven ages slower so they'll probably skip that. And maybe Hank will be full on Beast mode this time, that could replace most aging makeup. They should do something to Charles and Erik, even if its simply hair. Grey up Fassbender and shave MacAvoy's head.

Raven doesn't age, so nothing needs to be done there.

I think it will be very important to see Charles aging. In many ways I hope that he is either already bald, or at least balding. Maybe later in the movie Erik or someone could actually make a comment about it...

How about this...

After we see a scene with Cyclops, Marvel Girl and say, Quicksilver in the Danger Room, being run by Beast, we then go to Professor X using Cerebro. He has the helmet on and just started using the machine. We see him hone in on Europe, and specifically Germany, where he sees a single red figure that he zooms in on. We see the figure at a circus and the figure says "Mein got!". Charles stops using Cerebro and we see his face as he smiles. We then see him slowly remove the Cerebro helmet, revealing that he is now bald...

Oh, if they do my idea of Magneto isolating himself by creating a free, mutant sociaety, the governments of the world would go after him (next movie) at which time the X-Men would need to get involved. Magneto's Alcolytes would fight against the X-Men, as would Erik, as we would find out that Cortez is somewhat controlling him through the use of his power. It would give us an Erik versus the X-Men story, and ultimately Erik would seemingly sacrifice himself so the other mutants could survive. (Of course Erik would survive as well, but that would be an after credit's scene).

Right. My mistake about Mystique. I'm sure making McAvoy bald and Fassbender gray will probably do the trick. I guess Hank is the one that really worries me. In a perfect world he is full on Beast but I know the producers are going to want to show Hoult. And with the exception of his height, he still looks like baby-faced ABOUT A BOY to me.

They could've gone the mocap route like I said they should have from jump, but whatever. That Beast getup has to be uncomfortable for scenes at a time.

Bald Xavier will do wonders for aging him. I really hope they give us a Magneto with white hair, fianlly...

I think after how great Grammar looked as Beast in makeup I don't think they would ever have Beast become a CGI character, even if Hoult looks way too pretty boy for the burly Hank McCoy. Hopefully he does stay full Beast though in the film. At certain points he looked very much like a younger version of Grammar Beast in makeup.

I don't want them trying to make Hoult look like 40. Even if he grows a beard, it's not going to look believable.

He should be furball the whole movie.
It's not hippie times, no more drugs.

So we'll get Fassbender looking like Magneto...
