They're special intros made for The Animated Series when it aired overseas.

The Animated Series (1992). I believe they aired the special intro. a couple of times in the US as well, but after the show's original run.

Yeah, I think that was my reaction when I first saw that introduction. I wonder what the Japanese thought when they saw it... and then saw the actual show.
