Maybe they could do what they did with DOFP and release like the first few minutes of the film. I think that was during the MTV Movie Awards if I'm not mistaken.

Hopefully they'll have a huge showing for it during SDCC since New Mutants and Deadpool would have already been out by then.

Teaser during New Mutants would be 7 months from the release so that makes the most sense. A SB spot is probably too early.

I hope Fox promote this properly. That’s been one of their biggest weakness with the X-Men property. The promotion is horrid. They only do it a few months prior. They need to start from now tbh. Look at Marvel and DC. They pump out teasers a year before release and get people talking. And they show enough to keep people excited. I have no clue why Fox and everyone involved wanna keep it all so hush hush. They do such a good job with Deadpool why can’t they do the same with X-Men.

With how fast pop culture cycles through things - holding off until 6 months out vs 8 or 9 months is fine. Probably not that much of a difference, especially if the film is good. We've seen how Fox is when they have a strong film on their hands. We also don't need 4 trailers like JL has had or promoting things a year in advance.

If the film is good, the promo will be strong. Promoting a bad film won't do squat. If New Mutants and DP2 are good, hopefully Fox will show them off a bunch at their 2018 showcase.

I don't really see this competing well with Mulan if that film turned to be good and appealing. Apocalypse even competed with a flop that was Alice 2 and still underperformed. A rehash of X3 and the cast of Apocalypse isn't a good combo. While Jessica isn't a big seller, she couldn't save Winter's War. The only way to be this to be successful is it for to be good and I just don't think its possible with Kinberg.

This may not mean much but I asked Lana on IG Live if Jubilee was going to come back and responded with “That’s for me to know and for you to find out.”

Tbh Winters War was a movie no one wanted. You can’t use her not “saving it” as a means for her not having any draw. That had 3 other A listers and still was a flop because it was a sequel to a lame movie.

Jessica hasn’t really been the main character of a big movie yet. She has plenty of critical acclaim but she’s a huge get none the less.

We barely got anything Logan until very close to release, DP will probably follow suit because Logan was a hit and they didn't even do much for it. All about cutting costs.

Fox will not release anything for DP until closer to the release, they are known to follow that "Oh people will forget if we release stuff early" lul

    Seriously? :whatever:
X-Men is an established franchise that’s been going for 17 years. It’s not even comparable to a forgettable Snow White movie and an unecessary sequel. Your logic baffles me at times.

It's really interesting that this movie might officially be Dark Phoenix, not even X-men Dark Phoenix. We've come a long ways since X3 where Fox had no faith in a Phoenix title, or anything that wasnt generic or Wolverine centric.

I can only imagine it will have X-Men in the title.

Isn't it sort of implied? It's an X-Men movie.

Seems like splitting hairs. You could call it X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX and I doubt anyone would bat an eye.

I mean they registered darkphoenix.com They gave the title “Dark Phoenix” when they dated it. And they were shooting it with the title Dark Phoenix, according to Hutch Parker’s instagram.

It’s probably more likely a simple ploy to make the general audience not think of it as much an X-Men movie, but more a Logan/Deadpool different in tone kinda movie. By doing that they can play it off as if it’s going to be vastly different from Apocalypse to get the fans they lost.

I’m not saying this is the biggest thing they’re doing to get numbers back in seats, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it is one of many.

I like the idea of titles like that. Just "Dark Phoenix", or "Mutant Massacre", stuff like that. Especially if we're talking about possible crossover events.

But I don't think Fox has changed much of their mentality when it comes to the main X-Men films. It's not Wolverine centric anymore, but they don't have a choice since Jackman retired. Honest question: Would they let Logan go after DoFP if Jackman was still available?

Jackman is not there anymore, but McAvoy, Fassbender and Lawrence are. Fox is showing they can break a "title pattern". But are we going to see the X-Men as the leads in a [clears throat] X-Men film? Are they going to have more screentime and character arc than Eric and Raven? Or will it be just Sophie Turner's Jean promoted as a decent character? It remains to be seen.

I think it's a symbolic change that I like to hope represents a better attitude toward the story and property. In 2006, Fox had no faith in marketing the movie as anything related to Phoenix and had no faith in putting phoenix visuals, story-beats, etc into the movie. I'm not going to assume anything to do with this movie, but it's at least coming out in an environment that is friendlier to the material.

There really is no reason not to include X-Men in the title for this one.

Well unless they are trying to do something different but its seems unnecessary to start naming the movies by just adaptation title at this point in the franchise.
