Here's the link to the interview with the writer from Newsarama.

So following the announcement that the Young Allies, the Avengers Academy, and Spider-Woman annuals would be doing an old fashioned Annual crossover facing Arcade.... now we have a new Annual crossover between Uncanny X-Men, Namor, and Steve Rodgers.

I love this pairing and I'm curious to see who they are facing. Blastaar is announced as being a primary villain but that there's another they're facing for the first time in 30 years, which still has a fan following.

Personally, for me I'm excited because, unlike Fraction, this writer seems to really get the characters and the fact that he's pushing the idea of Cyclops and Steve Rogers in leaderlike situations has me very intrigued. Cyclops has taken a darker turn of late but he's always been a great leader always overlooked. I hope he starts to step it up now that this is the second time he and Steve Rogers are teaming up.

I'm intrigued.

I love this! Going old school annual crossover is a great move. It seems Marvel is also seriously testing the waters for a Super-Soldier ongoing.

I'm all for the old school annual approach. Annuals have been pointless for years before being done away with, and when they came back they weren't much better. This new move reminds me of when I started collecting comics. Days of Future Present, Kings of Pain, Hero Killers. Loving it!

Not really interested in any of the characters outside Steve, and I'm sure the annuals will be around $4.99 or so, but it could still be interesting. I'll wait for more details, but it'll probably be a tradewaiter if more stuff of interest does pop up

If they're 3.99 each I might be enticed.

If they're 4.99 then I'm skipping them. At 3.99 it'll depend what else is coming out.

It seems Marvel is re-using an old idea of linking the annuals together as a story-line or event to inspire people to buy them. They did that in the late 80's into the 90's. Eventually it stopped working. Bill Jemas eliminated them outright, claiming a 13th issue of an ongoing title a year proper would sell better (and he's still right). But, it isn't a bad idea to dust off for a while. Paul Tobin will be doing a similar crossover story in the annuals for AVENGERS ACADEMY, YOUNG ALLIES (!) and his upcoming SPIDER-GIRL/WOMAN.

As for the X-MEN/NAMOR/STEVE ROGERS one...well, Fraction's become far more of a miss than a hit for me lately. Not Bendis level, but hovering close. Out of the three I only read one of those. In theory I should care about the Blastaar thing, but is that enough to make me wade into buying X-Men or Namor material?

Fraction isn't writing it. I don't know the guy who is but he seems to really know his stuff based off the interview he gave up there.

I can't say I really care one way or another about the format. I'm just looking forward to the crossovers. I always love seeing slightly incongruous heroes crossing paths. I'm definitely picking up the Cap/X-Men/Namor crossover because BLASTAAAAAAAAAAR!!! :awesome: Thinking about the Young Allies/Avengers Academy/Arana one, but I'm not sure yet.

It might be funny if Steve Rogers asked about that Medal Of Honor that he gave Cyclops from the President, and Cyclops was like, "Yeah, I threw that into the ocean." And Rogers replied, "For people who want to be accepted, you seem to have a habit of smacking away olive branches," and Namor chimes in, "That's why I can team with them, they remind me of myself!" :hehe:

Namor'd be like, "I know, it landed on a friend of mine, you dick."
