X-Men - Part 3

Heh, the X-Club is fun. I kind of wish Beast were still with them, but then he'd still be under Cyclops' fascist boot-heel and that would suck.

Laughter is allowed but:

At what point did Frenzy join the current Rogue lead team of X-men?

I have a frind in the comic store I used to go to regularly who takes a simple joy in watching my jaw drop.

He knew / remembered that I wanted Cargil in the X-men YEARS ago, and he handed me a copy of Xmen Legacy that had Cargil working alongside the XMEN in space????

WHAT Happened? Just give me a comic to go back and start reading PLEASE!!!!:awesome:

Honestly, if they got rid of New Avengers and its characters, I'm not bothering with Avengers proper. The main Avengers do next to nothing for me. Maybe that's why I like Bendis' run so much. He focuses on the characters I actually give a lick about. A team with Spider-Man, Thing, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist just blows me away. Wong, Squirrel Girl, and Mockingbird backing them up is just icing on the cake! I'm annoyed at the oversaturation of Wolverine as anyone but I even like him on this team.

Here here.

Props.

The crossover Age of X. It involved Legion altering reality and in that reality she was an X-man and in love with Cyclops. After the cracks of that startef to become apparent and Rogue realized it was false, she ended up saving the day and restoring thngs back to how they were. Problem was everyone still had their AoX memories. Emma and the telepaths offered to erase them and help sort the minds out for those who wanted but Frenzy chose against it. She decides to become an X-man following this. I beleive she went to the east coast with Wolverine to get away from Cyclops and watching him with Emma bc she still has those feelings and its easier to be away from him as he doesnt want her

Yeah, Age of X is where you want to start reading (crossover between X-Men Legacy and New Mutants). She's not heavily in it but it's where her story began. Then you can follow her in X-Men Legacy.

Mike Carey's done a good job with her and she'll continue staring in the book when Gage takes over with the next issue that comes up.

Thank you both,.. I've caught up on the legacy side and will have to wait for reorders on the New Mutants.

I remain Jazzed.I want her to make it,... Emma needs to watch her P's & Q's since this Cargil has a thing for Scott Summers.

Side comment: So Xaviers son has THOUSANDS of alts with distinct personalities and powers?

..... With more being generated?

interesting.
:wow:

Yeah, without ruining anything I really enjoyed the arc following Age of X dealing with Legion's personalities. I thought that was fantastic, maybe Carey's best arc.

I finally got caught up on Uncanny X-Men. I have mixed feelings about what Gillen is trying to accomplish on this book. I know it's supposed to focus on the X-Men being more of a offensive/defensive unit as opposed to teachers but it feels like Gillen is just killing time until the Avengers/X-Men.

The Sinister arc was OK but I prefer Mr. Sinister as a mad scientist as opposed to a wannabe god. His parting shot to Cyclops was cool about the next time they meet, Scott will be hated more than Sinister ever was. Love foreshadowing like that. I enjoyed Emma calling Namor a buffoon, that line cracked me up.

The biggest problem I have with Uncanny X-Men is mostly the line-up. It's unbalanced in my eyes. I don't like both Namor and Magneto on the team. I'm so over the Namor/Emma angle, I'd just prefer only Magneto there. The Colossus/Juggernaut angle perhaps needs more attention, maybe then I'll start to like it more......or I could end up wanting it to come to a faster conclusion. I don't give a hoot about Storm being the positive moral influence for Scott on the team. I think Hope could do that just fine on her own considering Cable trained her to be a good soldier.

That being said, the Phalanax issue was really good. I liked the focus on the last remaining member of the race and how the X-Men took a back seat in the issue. At the end they thought they beat the alien and saved the world but it decided to lower it's defenses and accept death after discovering the rest of the race was extinct. Great story.

You know, I really liked the newest issue of Uncanny but the more I think about it the more I think Gillen could have done with it.

Basically, you have a race near extinct facing a creature that is legitly the last of its race. How would that effect the team? What would they think about eradicating something they fear or feel is evil... just as humans try to eradicate them for fear of them being evil? I can't help but to feel like this could have been a longer, more fulfilling and impactful arc. Heck, bring in Warlock, an offshoot relative of the Phalanx, and see what he thinks about it.

Scott doesn't think that way anymore. He sees threat, then blasts the threat. It's the other title with the word Uncanny in it that has it's members lament the ramifications of their actions.

That's sort of poetically sad. Much like how Magneto let himself become a fascist promoting a master race ideal after surviving the Nazis.

Tragic irony. Somehow it works better for Magneto than for Cyclops.

It works even better for Charles, as he's partially responsible for what Cyclops is today despite attempting to create the opposite.

Well Scott's team is officially named the Extinction squad

If there's any character that's a walking contradiction of themselves, it's Mags.

Cyclops is getting pretty close. I chuckled when Wiccan called him on wanting to punish the Scarlet Witch even though he made Magneto an X-Man in spite of his numerous crimes. :funny:

I can't believe it was somebody like Wiccan to come up with that. That diss came from pretty far down the totem.

Well, the higher-ups who should be calling him on it have either left or are content just going along with whatever Cyclops says at this point.

Yeah, Civil War made it impossible for any of those guys to sling any s**t in Scott's direction.

And in fairness, if anyone was going to call Scotty on that, it was going to be Scarlet Witch and Magneto's relative.

Yeah, I thought that line was fantastic. Go Wiccan!

Cyclops is turning more into Cable than Magneto.
I disagree. The difference is that Cable set forth his ideology and the like-minded among the New Mutants followed him willingly to create X-Force. Cyclops is setting the tone for all of mutantkind, and when people disagree with him--like X-Factor--he gets all pissy and tries to guilt them into feeling like they've sold out mutantkind. Only after Schism has anyone else really stepped up and offered an alternative to Cyclops' X-Army. Before that, people sort of fell into line because Scott's way was the only choice they felt like they had. Who else used to isolate mutants and guilt them into believing that he was absolutely right and no one else could offer them the security he could on his private island/asteroid/nation...? ;)

I know that's supposed to be Magneto, but replace "island/asteroid/nation" with "mansion" and it also describes Charles. People always talk about Charles and Erik like they were polar opposites, but their only real differences were their methods and the role they believed flatscans would play in the inevitable mutant-run society of the future.
