X-Men - Part 8

July 2018 Solicitations
https://www.newsarama.com/39545-marvel-comics-july-2018-solicitations.html

The major news from this is that Gold & Blue are confirmed for at least another arc with the same creative teams and there is a secret book coming out that has zero details.

X-men Red: The Charest cover with Gentle is beautiful. I'm a huge fan of individual character covers. They remind me of the Morrison New X-men era. I think the consistency of Asrar on art and Charest on covers really helps give this book a memorable identity. This might be too bold or too soon, but I almost consider Taylor to be the best X-writer since Morrison. I am so happy that one of my favourite writers is writing my favourite character with stellar art for at least 12 glorious issues.

X-23: Phrases like "Fresh Start" and "back to roots" frustrate me. The solicitation kinda confirms a regression. I hope she at least continues to work the with Orphans of X, but the first issue is going to have to address why Laura is using the name that dehumanized her. Her new costume isn't the travesty I was expecting, but why does she have to wear a costume that shows her midriff now that she isn't Wolverine? Honestly, just use her Red costume. Tamaki wrote a fantastic graphic novel called Skim. She is a talented writer so I'll try to not hold continuity against her.

X-men Blue: This actually looks interesting lol, despite the O5's return. What does Emma do that both provokes Magneto's wrath and deserves the X-men's protection? I kinda like the idea of a Magneto vs Emma conflict, as long as Bunn starts treating Emma with the same nuance and care that he gives to Magneto. I hope the new team sticks around because I need my Daken fix.

X-men Gold: "The Dark Rachel Saga" sounds like a parody.

The cover for Cable is really nice. Is this series worth reading?

I'll continue to get New Mutants because I love this team and the supernatural stuff. Why isn't Rictor on the cover? The Multiple Man cover is a lot of fun, I will pick this series up.

I'm going to skip all of the Logan stuff and ignore that he is coming back until I absolutely can't anymore.

X-Classified : hmmm... New Uncanny? New Xavier (X) series (hope not)? Storm?

I doubt Uncanny, especialy with the news that Blue, Gold AND Astonishing are continuing. 5 X-men books is overkill. Im guessing that book will be about the return of Adult Cyclops bc that really the only big card Marvel has left with the X-line

Trust me, I saw the other options for Laura's costume. It could have been much, much worse.

As for the mystery title, who knows.

omg can you post the other designs? lol

Hmm. They might be waiting to announce it so they don't take attention from Logan. I can't see Cyclops returning in the middle of Wolverine's return, but who knows. I still think it's related to Xavier, and Marvel can't say anything until Soule is done telling his Astonishing story.

X-men Blue
X-men Red
X-men Gold
Astonishing X-men
Uncanny X-men

Dont you think thats a bit much?

I dont think announcing Uncanny v5 is something worth of being classified like that. It has to be a big spoiler and the return of book with that name isnt it IMO. We've had 3 big character returns this past year and Scott is the only other left to do that would be worth of this. I hope Im wrong bc I want Jean to be back at least a year before he is, but I wouldnt be surprised

It could be an Xavier solo series. Or it can be a mini.

I agree with you, Cyclops should stay dead longer. And so should Wolverine.

Eh, at most it confirms it's soliciting a regression, not that Tamaki's writing it that way.

Hickman on X-Men was rumored, I think. I also remember Ta-Nahasi Coates talking about a Storm series, but I can't imagine that would be worth "classifying".

Apparently Soules has another X-project so that could be it

Does anyone trust Soule? I like Astonishing but he certainly hasn't redeemed himself after IvX. He just looks like he jumped the sinking Inhumans ship so that he can stay employed working for Marvel. Hickman would be better.

In other news... congrats, Guggs, I officially miss Extraordinary. Why do the X-books botch the flagships? At least the solos and minis since Fresh Start have been stellar (imo).

Thor Storm is so so so bad. But at least she isn't wearing her bathing suit costume?
Yikes, I guess we lucked out.

Its even more laughable considering what happened with her in BP today

I think he's a talented writer who co-wrote an event that Marvel asked him to write along with Jeff Lemire (who always seems ignored in IvX). I have no idea which parts of the story he was responsible for vs. Lemire, but I don't think either one of them came up with the premise for the story or would have told that story if given free reign.

He just looks like he jumped the sinking Inhumans ship so that he can stay employed working for Marvel.

He wrote books before Inhumans and wrote other books during his run. He's currently writing Daredevil among a few others. He also wrote forty books for Inhumans and said he would come back to write one story he had in mind (before giving his blessing to Al Ewing who wanted to finish the story his way). That hardly counts as abandoning ship - particularly since Marvel continued Inhuman books for a year after he left with a relaunch.

Hickman would be better.

Hickman would be fantastic (no pun intended). He always gets my vote for Doctor Strange, but the X-Men would be interesting.

Sadly, Guggenheim is going to have even more time to write comics, by stepping down from showrunning Arrow. sigh

Lemire doesn't have a great reputation as an X-writer either. It's pretty obvious that the writers at that time were confined to huge editorial mandates that didn't make any sense. But anyone involved with writing Emma as someone blowing up blimps of innocent people with sentinels because Cyclops dying drove her crazy will get huge red flags, Lemire included. I'm not sure if the specifics of Emma's actions were mandated, but the execution of them were also terrible.

I like Astonishing, but despite that book or even because of it, I think a lot of X-fans would worry about giving him a big, flagshippy book.

Well everything about Marvel Comics is a bit much. :o just wait when MCU X-Men is on the way, there would be like 20 x titles per month.

Why can’t we get rid of Land?

I actually like this line up. Though 1 more underused X-Man or X-Woman would have made this more eXciting for me.

There is still one more member to reveal. Jubilee and Dani are speculated based on past comments made by Rosenberg and utilization in PR

I'd be thrilled with either Jubilee or Dani. But drawn by Land...

Either of them would be eXcellent. I prefer Jubilee as she's the more iconic of the two but still a bit underused as a X-Woman. Though Moonstar has been irrelevant in the actual X-Men team for a decade now, so maybe she needs a chance.

From what I've been seeing there's a new xtermnator book on the way with the Time diplacedX men. and the xterminator were the original Xfactor cover til thjey came out and saved nyc as their normal selves from apoclypes and all the kid's( Rusty, Skids, , boom boom Rictor jamie madrox sirinetc to artie a leach ) they were saving and bringing in to teach them how to learn to us their powers took onthe name as teen heroes when thge first X-factor disapeared and they they join cannon ball & the other in the new mutants. then again I could be getting Xtermination mixed up with x-terminators.

but articles like thisare every where. some thing the name X-terminators is making a cxome back :>>http://www.theouthousers.com/index....teases-extermination-again-for-the-x-men.html

Source: This August... Extermination

It looks like mutantkind is up for extermination again, but this time its serious! Back in 2013 the X-titles experienced the X-Termination event crossover. This time around Marvel is teasing Extermination, fully spelling out the word! The teaser image shows the time-displaced X-Men (the X-Men: Blue team) being… exterminated?
Will it involve the Exterminators again? Or maybe even the X-Teminators? Who knows, the information Marvel put out was pretty skimpy. They did reveal the creative team of Ed Brisson(writer), Pepe Larraz (art), and Mark Brooks (cover). A promotional image for the comic also provided the tagline "Exterminate the past. Eliminate the future." and an August 2018 launch.

UPDATE: An earlier version of the article incorrectly stated that the young heroes were merging with their older counterparts. We have corrected the error.

The final fate of Marvel Comics’ time-displaced team of X-Men may be decided once and for all this summer — and it may not turn out well for the young mutant heroes.
The publisher has released cover art for Extermination, a new comic debuting in August 2018 from the creative team of writer Ed Brisson and artist Pepe Larraz, with covers by Mark Brooks. While the teaser doesn’t include any story details, Brooks’ artwork shows the classic X-Men team apparently re-merging with their time-displaced X-Men Blue counterparts.
RELATED: Marvel Finally Resolves The Original X-Men’s Time Paradox
But does this mean their recent adventures will be erased from reality? The text at the bottom of the teaser states “Exterminate the past. Eliminate the future.” That’s not exactly a positive turn of phrase; rather, it indicates that some enemy is planning to target the mutants past iteration in order to not only prevent them from going to the future, but to possibly eliminate them from Marvel history altogether.

The mystery behind how and why the young X-Men were plucked from their era and placed in the modern day was only recently resolved, but that revelation only made the question of how or when they’d be written out of modern Marvel continuity would take place. It would appear we’re finally on the cusp of learning the answer, and it may not bode well for fans of the teenage incarnation of the original team.
Marvel is promising answers soon, however, during its Marvel’s True Believer panel at C2E2, from 12:15-1:15 PM CT. however, fans attending the show will not be allowed to attend the panel in person unless they have a Marvel Mastercard ® or Marvel Mastercard invitation, current Marvel Unlimited Plus membership or emailed RSVP confirmation.

Extermination has absolutely nothing to do with X-terminators. Doesnt even share the same title

I've finally caught up to X-Men Gold, and eh. It was nice seeing Rogue, Iceman and Bobby. However though the quality remains to be not good. Even though it seems like the writer has a clear plan for future story arcs, and they have been bringing back characters from the previous issues, there isn't really a lot of stake here.
