I've seen the film and quite liked it. I don't want to give to much away, but for those who have seen it and those who haven't but already know what transpires, I'd like to hear some reaction.

Does the film offer the chance for some, or even all, the main characters who perished to come back in future installments?

I personally see very much that possibility. If the studio so chose, this film allows for the possibility to resurrect a number of characters in the future, sort of like the return of a certain Vulcan after his apparent "death."

And I am talking characters here, not just one character.

The question is, will this happen? Actually, this might make a good poll after the film starts.

i don't want ressurection...jean was fine..but no more...

Well, we know that
Xavier is alive. We didn't see Scott's body. Maybe it's possible that Scott could be cloned back to life by Sinister, but that's a bit icky, I dunno...

How was Famke??

Famke was awsome with what little she had. I wish they could have done more with her than just have her stand around a lot looking angry. But boy, even without much dialogue, can that woman act.

There was so much potential to explore her character and the Phoenix persona -- maybe show why her power was manifesting itself as the dark Phoenix.

Overall, the film felt like an episode in an ongoing series and not the final part of a trilogy. The film leaves open plenty to explore in further films, but the question is, will these actors come back for yet another X-Men film, or will they have had enough, or perhaps be too old?

I mean, Fallon Carrington died and came back as another actress. . .

Yes, Xavier is "alive," so therefore, in the same way, Scott and others that have died can also be "alive."

The other intriquing question, of course, is the extent of Jean's powers. Can she ultimately undo what she did? We have seen her "de-construct" things. Can she re-construct them?

How? Isn't Xavier supposed to be one of the most powerful psychic in earth? Maybe he skipped to another body at the last minute before he got demolecularized.

if cyclopse really really dies EVEN in the may 26th showing i am going to jump off a bridge.....

the way I see it is like this: xavier is human, he's phychic, sure, but he's not a god, so if his consciousness can survive without his body, it stands to reason that Jean and Scott's consciousnesses can also survive in some plane of existance. Xavier has the mental ability to find and possess another body (does this mean he will be played by a different actor in X-Men 4?). Of course, we don't really know if Scott is dead. He might be in suspended animation at the bottom of the lake for all we know. Or he may have been fully dematerialized and absorbed by jean, in which case she may be able to re-constitute him.

The thing is, Jean is dead. :down

I hope Sabretooth comes back, we just seen him fall, that's all.

I hope not. This isn't comics where you have hundreds of issues in which you can do what you want and resurect characters in crappy ways. I think that in the movieverse dead should stay dead or it will look silly and lose all the realism that they are going for. The Jean/Phoenix thing is allright because it's a classic story and all, but, if all the major shocking things from this movie will mean nothing in the possible sequels, people will not take these movies seriosly. My two cents :D

Yeah, I agree with you. It'll lose the realism and the emotion and it'll confuse some people.

It might be wishful thinking for fans who want to continue seeing their characters, but in movie terms, it's very dodgy ground to tread on...

SPOILER:

The reson why Prof could move his mind to another body is because he know of the vessel! Cyke did not, which is why only Prof was resurected, not Cyke!

Of course, in future films they can always find ways of bringing them back..

But we never actually SEE Cyclops die. And do we ever know why Jean is passed out when Logan and Ororo find her?

There could be a whole flashback sequence in X4 showing what was never shown or written in X3.

well i think if Cyclops comes back for X4 that there gonna recast him.

Maybe he should come back as his long lost brother: Havok.
not really as him, but as a voice in his head, that's how he ends up at the mansion.

As far as we know Scott is laying in a hospital somewhere since we never see his body. It's a pretty easy fix if they want to bring them back

First scene of X4

"I cannot believe those guys found you wandering around Alkali Lake, you got lucky Scott".

Ok here is what should happen Sinister should ressurect jean because jean is the phoenix the phoenix is life and she can undo what she did so he goes to jean and ends up with Cylops as well as Psylock :D he get Gambit to gather the marauders because the when jean tried to resurrect the one mutant he needed she ended up resurrecting a bunch of morlocks and so Sinister is trying to be discreet and needs to get rid of the evidence ;) so The Sinister needs one Morlock and he tells the Marauders they can destroy the rest. So Gambit doesn't know that the marauders are bad and when the start killing the other mutants Jean's goodside protects him long enough so he can escape and warn the x-men (of whoam Gambit learned for Jean via Psi mode :p) So the mutant the Marauders are after is Callisto why you ask? because she can find other mutants especially really powerful ones so who could Sinister possibly be looking for........oh i dunno a certain En Sabah Nur :D lol that's my crazy wacky idea.

oh and the whole time Jean and Cykes would be on Sinisters side :D
