Guillermo del Toro is a monster/mythology fanatic so X-Men isn't for him.

Raimi is likely burned out from Spider-Man and probably doesn't want to do more superheroes!

Zack Snyder likes edgier stuff, so X-Men isn't for him. And he would be tonally VERY different from the previous X-movies.

Ratner needs more patience, a more serious and perfectionist approach (no cheesy dialogue, enough takes to get scenes perfect) and more input from the franchise's custodians (Winter, Arad, Shuler-Donner). He didn't do as badly as many seem to think. X3 could have been much, much worse.

Singer needs to read more comics, correct a few things, bring a little warmth and light at times, and he'd be okay.

Singer definately won't return to the X-men franchise!!! I mean going back and forth with 2 comic book movie adaptions would be too difficult for any director. I think your wrong about Guillermo and Zack, both men have been very interested in the X-men films and have made very good comic book movie adaptions on their own. I think they can make some great X-films!!!

Singer definately won't return to the X-men franchise!!! I mean going back and forth with 2 comic book movie adaptions would be too difficult for any director. I think your wrong about Guillermo and Zack, both men have been very interested in the X-men films and have made very good comic book movie adaptions on their own. I think they can make some great X-films!!!

Guillermo turned down an X-movie (X2 or X3, can't recall) and did Hellboy. In an interview on the Pan's Labyrinth DVD he admits a liking for demons, vampires, monsters--- and is now doing Hellboy 2. His work on Hellboy and Pan's Labyrinth, or Blade 2, does not make me think he could work wonders with an X-movie, though he is clearly very intelligent and creative (as his interview reveals).

Zack turned down X3, looked at Wolverine, and is doing Watchmen.

These two don't sound like they want to do an X-movie any time soon.

Those who like Singer's style MUST remember that any new director (of any future X-movie or spin-off) will vary the tone and style. IT WILL NOT BE A COPYCAT OF SINGER'S VISION. That is a very important point for some of the people on this board to get through their skulls.

I've finished to see Pan's labyrinth. Wow. great film. I saw Hellboy and liked too... Definetly, Guillermo would do the best x-men movie. wish he was interested, but I think he has other kind of proyects in mind, and isn't exactly his style of movie, but he'd do a great work, and could do a good delevolpment with some of the x-men, like Beast, Angel, Kurt... and maybe Rogue too, why not?
