Well the day of infamy has finally arrived, my 360 has the deadly tech version of the avian flu, the 3 Red Lights of Death. Never had a problem with it, no freezing, nothing, yesterday worked fine, today fired it up, and there they were. Life span:almost 6 months. I know this is probably a pointless question, but has anyone ever found out a way around this problem, some makeshift fix or anything? I saw a video where some guy had the same problem and he kinda squeezed the 360 and it worked, but that didn't work for me.

Why don't we make an official red lights of death thread?

here's an easy solution...call microsoft, they'll fix it for you for free...problem solved

I didn't buy an extended warranty, they will still fix it for free?

yes, the factory warranty is now 1 year long, and totally free...I believe they even pay shipping and handling

Yes S & H is free...Mines took about two weeks to be sent and back.

I had the ring of death.
I inspected my connections and noticed the power cord was starting to fall out the back of the console.
I think my dog bumped it or something.
Plugged it in tight and rings were gone.

Not that this helps you, but hopefully you get an easy fix too.

Nah, I checked the power supply and everything, its the hardware error. How do they pay to have it shipped to them?

Like Me and joker said the Shipping is free if you call MS.

I had the same over a month ago. It freaked me out because of all of the stories I had heard, once I regained my composure and inspected I noticed that the power cord to mine was also kind of disconnected.

When I sent my 360 in a month or so ago, I had to pay the shipping charges, and had to get a box at my local UPS Store.

Unless your warranty expired, you got ripped off!

Ah conflicting reports, I always love those.

when my friends broke down they sent him a DHL box for free and paid all of it

They annouced it last christmas. It doesnt say on your manual because your console was made before the annoucement. Rest assure you have one year warranty. You can call MS to confirm if you want.

How the hell would they do that?
When you call MS the first thing the operator will say "to those who paid to get there 360 replaced within its first year you will get a refund. 6-8 weeks".

Yeah, you know that ain't happening. 6-8 weeks, Jesus H.
