Xbox One Games: The Real Meat Around The Bone

No, not as this time. It's coming to the PS4 and PC. It's been said that Sony is helping development, there's a thread about in Misc. gaming board.

Damn, this is a bit of a ****** development. Tomb Raider and SFV not coming to PS4 and X1, at least not for while. Both sets of fans lose and both console makers waste money for probably no overall net benefit. And both game series will take a hit to their long term. I love Street Fighter but if it's not available I'll just play the other beat'em ups more.

Apparently not.. But SFVTurboExtreme will in 6 months. I can easily see where this pisses people off.. but SF lost its shine for me a long time ago. I'll just play MK, no loss for me.

I think there's pretty much zero chance of that happening.
0 chance of flop or 0 chance of failure? coz a lot of people are thinking rotr is gonna either do okay, or flop because of ITS exclusivity.

it's a bit different in capcom's case. they're in financial turmoil and although I don't know for sure but maybe for them it made more financial sense to develop only for the console platform that not only has the higher install base but also where sf sold the most

I wonder if Microsoft would be open to another Crimson Skies game.

Spencer says he wants to make the system more diverse.

The shooters will support the console while it branches out to try and get more of a footprint in other areas. I hope Spencer is successful in making it more diverse.

Hm, both? What's the difference?

With Phantom Dust, of all things, getting remade, there is always that chance.

For me all they have to do is say "here's Battle Toads and an New Banjo" and it's game over for me. They win.

I'm skeptical of any game that hasn't shown gameplay footage yet being released next year. So that leaves Tomb Raider, Scalebound and Crackdown out of 2015. I'm hoping Tomb Raider at least makes it to December so they can release Quantum Break in the spring/summer. If Tomb Raider gets pushed, I can see Quantum Break being held off to fill it's winter slot.

Tomb Raider has been said for Holiday 2015, so it's still at least a full year away. I wouldn't worry about not seeing footage, yet.

my bad, I meant to ask did you mean 0 chance of failure/flop or 0 chance of success? because a lot of people are under the impression that rotr will flop due it its exclusivity

Hope it really kicks on from the 1st. Loads of potential.

Wasn't the last Banjo pretty horrible, though?

It wasn't horrible... It just wasn't Banjo really. I fully believe if they brought Banjo back as a platformer.. Then it could be great.

Also.. viva Piñata needs to return.

Ah well, I was never a huge Banjo fan really. After they ****ed up Perfect Dark, I'm not sure I care anything about Rare revival, unless it's by a different developer like Killer Instinct. Rare is dead, this thing called Rare now is an imposter.

It still talks about the game as a timed exclusive though. What will change from this revelation? Any implication for future TR games?

Phil Spencer will possibly look at stuff like this to 'make amends' as he puts it for the loss of SFV. Sony getting it is all part of business as he says but I don't think titles like these can make amends for losing out on something so huge. That said I love everything Spencer has said since he was appointed. If he stays where he is the X1 will get better every year and we are now getting honesty and a guy who knows how to talk to gamers rather than corporate bollocks.

The general assumption by many (especially myself) was yes, but MS actually stepping in to publishing the game definitely makes it less likely. It doesn't necessarily mean it's an impossibility, but that means they are putting a hands-on approach to the game.

The only recent examples of this happening and still getting on other consoles is Mass Effect and Ninja Gaiden II. The ME example is a simple case of EA purchasing the rights to the IP, including publishing rights for the first game. Ninja Gaiden II is a more complicated case. Tecmo got around that by releasing a game called Ninja Gaiden Sigma II, in which NGII was the base, but was radically redesigned to the point it was essentially a new game, a remake.

So, I would say MS publishing it brings the likelihood of Rise getting on the PS4 from 99.999999999999999% to something like 50%. I definitely doubt this a coincidence either, considering how close this development was to the SFV announcement.

Oh I see.

Fans lose again obviously. What are the chances SFV stays a permanent exclusive?
