Paramount Network has released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming Kevin Costner series, Yellowstone, which follows the violent world of the Duttons, a ranching family in Montana.

Oscar-nominated screenwriter Taylor Sheridan (Hell or High Water, Wind River) is looking to continue his exploration of the gritty, violent underbelly of the American heartland in the filmmaker’s new series. The show is set near the titular national park and will focus on the violence needed to maintain the largest contiguous ranch in the United States.

Two-time Academy Award winner Kevin Costner stars as John Dutton, the patriarch of the family who controls the largest contiguous ranch in the United States, under constant attack by those it borders – land developers, an Indian reservation, and America’s first National Park. It is an intense study of a violent world far from media scrutiny — where land grabs make developers billions, and politicians are bought and sold by the world’s largest oil and lumber corporations. Where drinking water poisoned by fracking wells and unsolved murders are not news: they are a consequence of living in the new frontier. It is the best and worst of America seen through the eyes of a family that represents both.

The cast also includes Wes Bentley, Kelly Reilly, Luke Grimes, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille, Dave Annable, Danny Huston, Gil Birmingham, Jefferson White, Gretchen Mol, Jill Hennessey, Patrick St. Esprit, Ian Bohen, and Denim Richards. The series was shot near Park City, Utah last year.

From Taylor Sheridan eh? well I'm in.

Yep, I'll definitely be watching this.

Also, can we get the title changed to include something like "from Taylor Sheridan writer of Sicario, Hell or High Water & Wind River", it's easy to miss as it is.

Look's good this. Anyone know how many episodes it is?

Brian Tyler has been tapped as composer.

Unfortunately, I thought the pilot was very underwhelming. A lethargic, unengaging pace; pretty stereotypical Indian/white man, urban/rural clash. But most damning of all, the show was basically robotic in how it handled drama. There's some pretty intense events that occur near the end, that should've had a major impact on the cast and yet it barely registers at all. It's like Sheridan completely forgot how humans process emotion and grief.

Also, it felt pretty ridiculous that people in 2018 would get in a large scale firefight over cattle.

I was looking forward to this. Still haven't seen it. Mixed reviews so far from critics.

getting some nice early season SOA vibes from this show. 3 episodes in, I'm good. Wish I could Binge it though.

Renewed for season 2

This is a pretty solid show IMO. I get why some aren't enjoying it as much, but the genre appeals to me, so I will definitely keep watching.

I was SO-SO reading about the series. But I really loved episode 1.

I need to tell my mom about it. She was a big Costner fan back in the day.

Wes Bentley seems to be the kinda guy who would have got all the roles Jake Gyllenhaal or Ryan Gosling or Ben Foster would have had.

I recall him back in the day. American Beauty and Four Feathers.

I would say the fight was.t about he cattle. The Cartwright/Barkley/Cannon stand in family was going non lethal, but carrying guns. We had combat vets on both sides but nobody was taking cover to snip just trying to see who would back down.Meanwhile the brother in law being the first man shooting wasn't really after the money the beef would bring.

Besides the modern tech and graphic sex scene it could have been the first episode of Bonanza, The Big Valley or High Chaparral. The branding of a criminal, you now belong to the ranch as a standoff turned lethal by a hot head.

‘Yellowstone’ Renewed For Season 3 By Paramount Network, Josh Holloway Joins Cast – Deadline

On the eve of Yellowstone’s second season premiere tonight, Paramount Network has ordered a 10-episode third season of its flagship drama starring Kevin Costner. Joining the show for a major recurring role in Season 3 is Lost and Colony alum Josh Holloway, Deadline can reveal exclusively..

Co-created by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson, Yellowstone follows the Dutton family, led by John Dutton (Oscar winner Costner), who controls the largest contiguous ranch in the United States, under constant attack by those it borders – land developers, an Indian reservation, and America’s first National Park.

I still haven't gotten around to watching season 1... must find a way to remedy that.

It took me a while to realize the actor playing rip is cole Hauser. The dark hair, beard, extra weight and stern demeanor really made it hard to recognize him.

I heard that on a TV board too. I immediately saw him as the bad guy from 2 Fast, 2 Furious

Lol I was like half way through Season 1 before I realized it was Cole Hauser as well. The beard and the extra weight make him look pretty unrecognizable. I'm glad to see him in more stuff though since I've liked him as an actor ever since Pitch Black and he deserves all the work he can get.

I recognized him from the get-go. On a related note, Season 2 is riveting as all get-out (so much better than Season 1, which is solid in its own right)! Hypesters should definitely not sleep on this one.
